Porch arrangement…one excellent benefit of growing copious amounts of flowers.

The ranunculus are still hanging in there and going in every arrangement. Their beautiful texture, delicate scent, rainbow of colors, and fabulous base life make them an easy keeper.

Believe it or not, I’ll be placing my order for next year’s additions to the ranunculus patch very soon.

It’s that glorious time of the year when I’m inundated with flowers. I replenished my ranunculus collection with these vibrant Clementine colored blooms and I can whole heartedly say that I have zero regrets. Thanks, 2024 Sara, for taking a leap with this one.

Spring pinks and yellows are lovely, but I think this orange has my heart for now. 😍

We’re dipping into some real cool temps in Nevada County. It feels so good! The garden and flowers are slowing down and, as always at the time of the year, I’m a little sad, happy for a change of pace, but mostly excited for the fresh slate of the next growing season.

I’m exceptionally sad to say “until next year” to the dahlias though. Over the last 5 years they have completely stolen my heart and interest. I’ve begun the slow and tedious process of digging and dividing tubers to place in cold storage until spring as I’m going to do a little reorganization of the patch. I’ll also be dipping my toes in dahlia hybridizing in hopes of creating some uniquely beautiful varieties born in Nevada County.

Next year I’m expanding the patch and braving planting some in our native soil (gophers be damned) so that I can have even more of these beauties to share with the community. It’s going to be wonderful. 😊

Snapdragons are going into the ground to overwinter so they can work on some substantial healthy root growth during the cold winter months before blooming in spring for our Spring Bouquet Subscriptions.

We are pretty lucky that we can grow the majority of our spring flowers in the garden, without protection, during our Nevada County winters. And generally, these cool season hardy plants that go through our winter are taller and healthier come spring time.

An elegant arrangement, chock full of KA dahlia varieties for my bedroom this week. I’m so happy I introduced these beautifies to my collection this year. They are so floriforous, sturdy, healthy, and absolutely stunning.

Birthday arrangement heading to its home!

I had the privilege of working with some Peoni Kiss roses and lots of flowers from my field to make this custom arrangement. My customer lives several states away and wanted to gift her sister with something special.

I know I’m biased, but I love flowers as gifts. 💛

Hi friends! Some of you know that I have started a small flower farm passion project. I have a limited number of spots remaining for my Fall Bouquet Subscription that will run from September 5th thru October 24th.

Each week, on Thursdays, subscribers receive a bouquet of 12 or more stems of seasonal blooms grown and arranged by yours truly. Plus you’ll receive a weekly email telling you all about the bouquet ingredients.

Bouquets can be picked up at the fabulous shop, Native Wren, in downtown Grass Valley or delivered for an additional fee. I’m also exploring a farm pickup option for those in the neighborhood. Please let me know if that’s something that’s interesting for you!

Bouquets for this season will include dahlias, specialty sunflowers, zinnias, celosia, basil, and more. A benefit to being a subscriber is that you’ll be the first to receive additional flowers when there is an overabundance of blooms.

If you love flowers or know someone who does, I hope you consider signing up! The subscription is $200 for the 8 weeks, which means each bouquet costs $25.

Week 3 of my Summer Bouquet Subscription was JUICY!

I never thought I’d love the orangey/purply color palette as much as I do. I’m also SOOO glad I invested in LxA hybrid lilies this year. Their helping bridge the gap from spring to summer focal blooms incredibly well.

I know many people don’t like the fragrance of lilies, but the LxA hybrid varieties are almost not fragrant at all, which lets the Monarda/Bee Balm’s lemony fragrance really shine in this bouquet.
