Fall for Madison is postponed, and we’ll see you on 10/24/26. 🍂

Some days the calendar has other plans. A weekend we’d been looking forward to for weeks just slid down the road a little, and honestly, that only gives us more time to look forward to it.

The leaves aren’t going anywhere. The c***r will still be warm, the booths will still be full of makers, and the small-town energy that makes Madison feel like home will be right where we left it. We’ll just meet it one week later.

Rock, paper, scissors, but make it woodworking. 🪵✌️

Some things just win. Solid hardwood over particle board. A wooden board over a plastic one. The smell of cedar over the smell of a rotting pumpkin (we’ve all been there). A piece that lasts 20 years over a plastic product that lasts one year.

Every piece we make is solid wood, hand-finished, and built to be used, passed around the dinner table, and kept. And yes, the lazy Susan is for being lazy. Nobody should have to rush around when the potatoes are one spin away. 😄

UPDATE: Postponed until 10/24/26 due to weather. See you next weekend!

There’s a particular kind of hush that settles over a workshop in October. The smell of fresh-cut hardwood, the last warm afternoons, the pieces we’ve been sanding all season finally ready to leave our hands.

This Saturday, we’re bringing the last of our fall items to Fall for Madison in Madison, NC. After this, the shop shifts into Christmas mode, so this is your final chance to take home a little autumn made by hand.

😄 Nobody said it just once. They said it at the benches, over lunch, on the walk back at the end of the day: “This is my happy place.”

🔥 I am spending the week at William Holland School of Lapidary Arts in Young Harris, Georgia, learning to bring color out of metal with a torch. Around me, people grind stone, string beads, and cut silver, and the room stays mostly quiet except for the hum of the machines in the background. Nobody seems to be anywhere else in their head.

🥰 What stays with me isn’t the finished pieces, as much as I love them. It’s how easily those words came out, like everyone in that room already knows what I’ve been learning in my own woodshop: that happy can look like dust on your hands and a task that needs all of you.
