I love a mini makeover. Especially when the house feels so drab after all the holiday decor came down. I bought these bar stools on FB marketplace for $5 each and decided they needed a fun color. Used chalk paint and black wax, then covered the seats with new batting and material I already had. The show tacks were a little harder than I anticipated, and although not perfect, make the look I was going for.

My goal this year was to have a working office and bring order to the chaos that has resided in this room for almost 5 years. At our last home I had a very large working studio, where I escaped often. Here, my office is tiny and just off the main hallway where everyone can see the messes. As much as I wanted to decorate those shelves with beautiful displays, I knew I needed function. I’m so happy with the results. Not perfectly placed knick-knacks, but beautiful, luxurious textiles. There won’t be anymore searching for the next project pieces, it’s all in plain view. I’m actually loving the whole room now. And… best of all, my canvases and paints are tucked into the closet for easy access. I see lots of fun projects in my future. 😃

Family tree 2022. I change things up each year. This year there aren’t many floral stems but more ornaments. It is busy and yet simple. Loving it.

Here’s Frankie, the other frog on my family tree - only because he has on a top hat and tails he reminds me of Frank Sinatra. He always sits at the top of the tree. I don’t really know why, but I just think of him orchestrating the events of the season - so he gets top billing. As you can tell, his arms are empty as well. I believe he once held a violin, but now he is the conductor creating wonderful memories throughout the season.

Why yes, that is a Frog Prince in my Christmas Tree. Thanks for asking. He is almost 30 years old and there are actually two frogs on my family tree. The other is dressed in tails and a top hat. They once held musical instruments, but with raising four children, those tiny instruments have long since gone. Do I miss the instruments? No, I love the memories the frogs bring. So they aren’t perfect - they are still perfect to me.

Have you wanted to do a cocoa bar this holiday season? Me too!! I had the opportunity yesterday at an event held at my house. I wanted to keep it up all season, so I used sealable jars. I tied red and white string with tags on them for guest to see what is in each jar. It was quick and simple and picking things up like the marshmallow stir sticks at TJ made it cute. I hope you will try one this holiday season. Or at least enjoy a yummy cup of hot cocoa.
