Got a blank stairwell in need of something fun that's not a wall of family photos? :) This homeowner literally handed us a stack of various pieces of art she'd been collecting for years (postcards, sentimental greeting cards, art she'd purchased from street artists in other countries, etc, etc) and asked us to create a gallery wall for her.

This was a fun challenge specifically because most of the art was not standard sized so we had to get creative with how to frame it. Plus, we wanted to include any written info that accompanied the pieces so that we could highlight the artist or event. There are also a few floating frames which were purposefully used so that the homeowner could take the frame off the wall and look at the back of the art which had an artist's autograph or info of some kind on it. We also chose to follow the angle of the stairs which gave the wall a more artsy/curated look. Message me if you, too, need a literal walk down memory lane hanging on your walls!

We have the best time re-imagining people's homes with the things they already own. We love the challenge of walking into a house and being able to visualize how it can come together by using pieces from all over the house including the things we find inside closets and cabinets. It is a true "trill of the hunt" situation which scares most people but invigorates us!

This is a house we staged two weeks ago that has hit the market. We staged every room in the house but here are some highlights.

Here is Part 2 of the Before and After photos for the entry into the 2026 Tour of Historic Homes and Gardens featuring Starmount Forest last weekend. This post features the bedrooms, bathrooms and sun porch.

Again, we worked with what the homeowners already had but purchased some things to fill in gaps so that the house felt finished. I failed to mention in my last post that the homeowners put a fresh coat of paint on their walls so that there was consistency throughout the house. They used SW Alabaster which is one of my go-to choices for a white paint that seems to work well in most every scenario.

We were asked by some dear Realtor friends of ours to get their house ready to be included in the 2026 Tour of Historic Homes and Gardens featuring Starmount Forest last weekend. We do a lot of stagings for this couple and we were so honored they would trust us with this task!

We worked with what they already had (lots of really good, eclectic pieces) but then also shopped for items to fill in some gaps that would help pull the entire house together. The homeowners love color so we had a lot of fun highlighting their affinity toward vivid colors but also providing opportunities for the eyes to rest so that the tourists could see the architecture of the house and not be too distracted by the things in the house.

Without further adieu, here is part 1 (living room, dining room, kitchen and den). We'll post the remainder of the house tomorrow. We hope you enjoy the tour!

We styled a china hutch for a client last week as part of a design installation. We used only what the homeowner had and were able to give her two different looks from which to choose. A.) traditional with the blue/white pieces, silver service, the family china, a grandfather clock and glassware but all styled in an interesting, non-traditional manner, and B.) a more casual collection of pottery, seagrass baskets, casual stemware and other loved/collected pieces.

Which would you have chosen? I'll tell you what the homeowners chose later so stay tuned :).

This shows that china hutches do NOT have to be set with fine china displayed in the traditional manner unless that's the way you like it. Treat it like a display cabinet to make it more interesting. Guests would much rather sit at the dining table and look at artfully-displayed items than they would plates lined up like solders on the back wall. At least I know I would!

If you like to shop second-hand, check out https://www.the2home.com/ in Thomasville. Such great stuff! The owner has a wonderful eye for beautiful things that she sells at beautiful prices :). She also consigns pieces so if you have some things you want to sell, give her a holler. She is currently selling for me some of the staging items I had. It's nice to see some money rolling in with zero effort on my part!

The Second Home

Here's a staging we did last year where we used only what the homeowners had. The realtor asked us to make this home more appealing to a younger and/or broader-based buyer. As you can tell, the house was FULL of older furniture so we did the best we could with what we were given but we think it turned out great! We staged every room in the house so this was a full day of hard work but it was so much fun!

Realtors, I know y'all have houses going on the market that look like these before photos :). It hurts my heart to see listing photos of homes that I know we can be of service to. We would love to help you stage those houses so you can better market them to a broader base of buyers so please give us a holler!

Holy Transformation of a Townhome, Batman! This house has some serious vibes now!

We staged this townhome near downtown Greensboro by using only what the homeowner had. In our initial walkthrough, we asked if he could remove the loveseat in the living room and a few other pieces we knew we wouldn't use. Homeowners aren't always able to oblige because they may not have somewhere to store their items but thankfully he was able to. He had some pieces he wasn't using that were stored at his parents' house so he brought some awesome chairs and art over. AND he did a little pre-staging shopping at Home Goods and World Market (pillows, throw blanket, a bench, a pouf). We didn't ask him to do that but you can see in the photos that it really helped us out! He bought things he knew he'd use in his new house so now he's ahead of the game and knows how his furniture will work with those items.

Here's another project we installed in January.

We've worked with this client's growing family over the past couple of years, pretty much designing every room in the house. When baby #3 was announced, they called on us to upfit their guest room/bonus room into a bedroom for their oldest son. He's in kindergarten and loves maps, globes, flags and geography so we had a great time bringing this space to life! We didn't want to do a super-childish room since he's a growing boy so I think we found a good common ground. From what I hear, he loves it!

We staged this one in the nick of time (on Friday before the weekend snow storm :)). We used ONLY what the homeowner had on hand. The homeowner is quite the avid reader so we had a billion books to find homes for. We staged every room in the house (bedrooms and bathrooms included) although I don't have photos for those spaces.
