Baking with kids doesn’t mean they have to help with every step.

If you’re making sugar cookies together, give each child one job that fits their age.

Maybe they press the cookie cutters into the dough. Maybe they help move the cutouts to the baking sheet. Later, they can take over the sprinkles.

That one job gives them something they can really do, and it keeps the recipe manageable for you, too.

There may be flour on the counter. A few cookies may come out a little crooked. That’s all welcome here.

They’re learning how to use their hands in the kitchen, one small skill at a time.

Apple cider donut season is here. 🍎

After my family visited an apple farm in North Carolina, I spent the ride home thinking about how to make those apple cider donuts even better.

These are baked with reduced apple cider, warm spices, and a cinnamon sugar coating added while the donuts are still warm.

There’s just something special about a warm chocolate chip cookie fresh from the oven. ❤️

These Thick Chocolate Chip Cookies have crisp, golden edges, soft and gooey centers, and plenty of chocolate in every bite. They’re the kind of homemade treat that disappears fast in our house and always brings everyone back to the kitchen for “just one more.”

Some desserts are more than dessert.

They become the thing everyone gathers around after church, during small group, or on an ordinary weeknight when your family just needs something comforting and homemade.

Yesterday, we opened the first Lily Pad inside a law enforcement agency in partnership with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.

These trauma-informed spaces were created to offer a little comfort, dignity, and peace to children, victims, and families walking through some of life’s hardest moments.

So grateful for the hearts behind this work and proud of our team for serving so faithfully. We’re excited to see how the Lord continues to grow Lily Pad - A Soft Place to Land, Inc. and use it to care for families in crisis.
