Spinnin' Yarns Spinnin' Yarns is a local yarn shop in the Northwest Indiana. Spinnin' Yarns is located at 145 N. Griffith Blvd. in Griffith, IN. We welcome and encourage newbies!

We are seeking to meet the needs of knitters/crocheters/weavers and spinners with quality yarns and notions. We are a fiber store providing knitting, crocheting, spinning and weaving supplies as well as instruction (both public classes and private lessons). Questions and problems are answered and fixed at Spinnin' Yarns! Knitting nights are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday from 11 to 1ish and al

l day on Saturday. We are running a large HEPA filters that filter the entire volume of the store's air twice every day. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, please feel free. We carry cleaning and dyeing supplies for knitters who want to dye their own yarns as well as dyes for weavers who want to hand dye their warp or weft! Fiber is available to dye for spinners too! Knitters/crocheters will find yarns from up to 40 different sources. We carry entry level yarns as well as yarns that will satisfy the advanced knitter or crocheter! Weavers will find looms, supplies, and threads including Lunatic Fringe, Mayville rug warp and Mayville (made in US) 8/2 for towels. Spinners will find Schacht spinning wheels! We'd love to see you! We will be having our second spin-in on Sunday, May 24th. Bring your wheels or spindles. Yes, this is a holiday weekend. But if you’re having a “staycation “ come join us. Food and drink allowed. We have a great coffee and sandwich cafe close to the shop. Curious about spinning? Come ask questions. This isn’t a formal lesson, but we can show some basics.

We will not be answering any knitting or crochet questions, or making repairs. We will be happy to help you with those projects during regular shop hours.

This Sunday, April 26th, we are having a spin-in at the shop from 2pm to 6pm. A spin-in is a bunch of spinners hanging out, talking, relaxing and sharing. Any spinners are welcome. Food and drink are allowed. I have a fiber tasting from Midwest farms for everyone to enjoy. We will be having monthly spin-ins on the fourth Sunday of every month. Before we left on vacation, I was looking for a larger purse at the mall. I stopped in at Macy's to look at their handbag selection. In Macy's (and other stores) crocheted handbags were hot items.

I know, in the past, that the yarn choices for people wishing to crochet (or knit) summer bags have been pretty meager. We just received a new yarn in the shop called Eco Bag by KFI. Not only is it made of recycled cotton and nylon, it is considered vegan.

Here are some of the colors that arrived in Eco Bag and some great pattern ideas! Personally, I can't wait to find a pattern and dig in myself!

I tried to capture the sparkle on the cowl but wasn't successful. The Cotton + Merino Luxe has a beautiful sparkle running through it. One skein would make a great Christmas gift! I don't know if you can see the sparkle better on these photos.
