Happy Friday from lld! Today's topic is something a little different, but something I am passionate about, biophilia or biophilic design.

Biophilia is a term in interior design for things in a space that evoke, include or mimic natural patterns, textures, and things found in nature. In otherwords, including plants, water, fire, natural wood tones, and natural art in the design of a space.

Biophilia when included in the design of a space has been theorized to provide a calmer more relaxed space. It can reduce stress and anxiety and certain plants in the home and office can help purify the air we breathe.

Finding Inspiration for your Space...
Below I have created an image that shows a picture I took while mountain biking at Oak Mountain State Park a few week back. I loved the vine climbing up the sign and the colors all complimented each other.
When you are working off a blank slate, color, decor and design can be intimidating. It is important to design around things that inspire or make you happy, especially at home, because that is your haven.
It doesn't have to be an image or artwork, it can also be a rug, a beautiful fireplace surround, a favorite lamp, as long as it means something to you, decorating around that item will allow the process to be much more fun.

Happy almost Friday! I wanted to let you all know a little more about me...

First, I currently work a full-time job (9-5 Monday - Friday), so if my responses are delayed... I apologize but I am psyched to work with you and answer your questions.

Second, huge passion for the environment so if there is a green option in design that is economical (whether that is it will pay off in the long term or won't break the budget), I like to lean towards suggesting those options.

Third, my husband and I own a home that was built in 1899, so if you have questions or frustrations about historic home renovation/restoration. Please feel free to let it out, I can sympathize.

Lastly, I am working on new post about finding inspiration for your space so stay tuned.

Key Points of Picking Paint Colors...
1. Place the color within CONTEXT
2. Place the color under the LIGHT type in your space.
Below we can see a color palette of materials, one images shows the palette under natural light, making a cool color palette and the other under fluorescent light, making warmer more yellow tones.
