What a busy weekend at Lowell Octoberfest!

I didn’t get nearly as many pictures as I should have, but I did manage to snag these two beauties.

I’m kind of obsessed with this unique little combo of “Mama” + the cowboy hat 🤠 — so cute and just a little western.

And that black chain with the Navajo pearl connector?! 🖤 Absolutely LOVE how these turned out.

I seriously love seeing all the different combinations you guys come up with!

It’s official!

We will be returning to the Belpre’s Christmas Market hosted by the Belpre High School Athletic Boosters on December 12!

We’ll once again have our permanent jewelry, candles, melts, soaps, lotions, and also bringing our new hats!

🕯️ Hackney Happenings…..Well, Now Ya Know….. Edition 4. (This little series of mine is a month old already!!) 🎉🥳

If you’ve purchased a candle from me before, you’ve noticed something a little unique and different with the candle wicks I use. Very early in my candle-making journey—back when I was still testing, tweaking, and occasionally questioning all my life choices 😂—I received a random sample of something called a Cottonwood Wick.

At the time, I was frustrated with testing and figured… what could it hurt? Turns out, it was one of the best decisions I ever made for my candles.

Cottonwood wicks are a braided flat wick made from 100% natural fibers, but what makes them so unique is their wide-base flame. They give you some of the benefits people love about wooden wicks, while still having the consistency and reliability of a traditional cotton braided wick.

That wider flame helps distribute heat farther across the candle, which can mean:
• A better melt pool
• More even burning
• Better candle consumption
• A stronger hot throw (strength of scent when burning)
• Great performance in larger vessels or harder-to-burn fragrances
• And a really unique look while burning

The funny part? Almost nobody uses them. In fact, they became so uncommon that they’re no longer being manufactured. 😬😖

But don’t panic. The manufacturer contacted me before they stopped production and I made sure I was really, really, REALLY stocked up. Let’s just say I won’t quit making candles for at least a few years 😜

So when you burn a Hackney Rd candle, even the wick is a little different from what you’ll find in most candles.

Oh, and a quick little tip: if you notice your flame getting too tall, your wick probably needs a trim. Keep it around ¼”. No wick trimmers? Scissors or even nail clippers work just fine!

Well, now ya know.

I know there are A LOT of festivals happening this weekend, but if permanent jewelry is on your list… come see me at the Lowell Octoberfest Lowell Ohio 👀✨

I can almost guarantee my pricing is better than most—and it’s NOT because I’m using cheaper chains or lower-quality products. I am paying the same prices for chains and connectors as the next permanent jewelry artist, I just choose not to mark mine up as high.

Could I make more profit per piece? Absolutely. But I’d rather keep permanent jewelry affordable and attainable so more people can enjoy it. That’s something I take a lot of pride in. 🤍

But affordable definitely doesn’t mean limited choices…I offer:

It’s Tuesday, so that means another episode in our series I call….

Hackney Happenings: Well, Now Ya Know

What goes into getting ready for a BIG show? A whole lot more than loading a few totes and hitting the road. 😅

This weekend is one of our best shows of the year, which means we’re bringing EVERYTHING— all of our current scented products, a huge clearance section, crystals, permanent jewelry, and this year, our burned hats too.

We’ll probably need all 3 of our tents. Our trailer will be packed full of product, displays, tables, signage, jewelry equipment… we’re basically a traveling store. 😂

And the prep has been weeks…... but if I’m being honest, I’m still making and labeling product to make sure we’re fully stocked and ready.

Then comes packing, loading, unloading, setting it all up, working the show, tearing it all back down, and loading it all up again.

So when you see that booth all set up and looking cute… just know there was a little bit (or maybe a LOTTA bit) of chaos behind the scenes. 😉

Well, now ya know.

Our first candle-making class is FULL! So…we added one more! If you missed out the first time, this is your chance to join us on Thursday, November 19.

Hackney Rd Craft & Candle Co. will be back to show us how to make our own dough bowl candles, with some great fall and winter scents to choose from.
