Nature in Clay Ceramics Studio

Nature in Clay is located on the Hamakua Coast of the island of Hawaii. Its ceramics is inspired by nature, which is the theme for its unique pieces.

Nature in Clay’s ceramist, Marion Nipper, is a retired marine biologist who discovered her love for ceramics towards the end of her scientific career. All sorts of forms found in nature, including marine creatures, plants, their flowers and leaves, birds and insects, among others, serve as inspiration sources. Although my initial passion was for functional pottery, both hand built and wheel thrown, Nature in Clay currently also produces some select sculptural pieces.

Yet again, given the uncertainties of life with covid-19, we chose not to have an open house on a weekend during the holiday season. However, like last year, we are open by appointment, always abiding to the current recommendation of mask-wearing while visiting Nature in Clay Ceramics studio. Please, send me a message or email if you would like to schedule a visit to the studio in Hakalau. I look forward to hearing from you, not only to view ceramics, but also to talk story. Given current circumstances, I will not be having an open house at the studio this holiday season. However, these items and many more are available at Nature in Clay Ceramics, by appointment. Mahalo nui to all who attended the 2nd Annual Hakalau Studio Tour on the weekend on November 16-17, 2019. I hope you had as much fun visiting our studios as we had receiving you.
If you missed it and would like to acquire some beautiful pottery and decorative ceramics made by several local ceramicists, you will have another chance on December 7. See details on the flyer.

The 2nd Hakalau Artists Open Studio Tour and Holiday Sale will take place on Saturday and Sunday, November 16th and 17th, 2019. As a new addition this year, Cary Deringer will be featuring her environmentally friendly hand made soaps and additional products at Nature in Clay’s Open House’s exhibit (Number 1 on attached map). See the attached flyers for additional info and plan on visiting us to talk story, enjoy some refreshments, and get a jump start on the holiday shopping.

Please, share this info with your friends and family and/or bring them along when you come for the tour.
