A Portsmouth-based entrepreneur, community leader, mom of two (and proud Marvel fan!), Latonya is deeply dedicated to uplifting others—serving as Director of Small Business Engagement at the NH Community Loan Fund and Co-Founder/Chair of The Business Alliance. Through her brand, Bossy Scribes, she channels that same passion into empowering journals, notebooks, and interactive workshops designed to spark creativity, mindfulness, and authentic self-expression.

The Cultivated Ground Spotlight: Dianne Higgins 🧵

A longtime Hampton resident and true creative at heart, Dianne has a knack for figuring out how to make just about anything! Over the years, she’s explored everything from beadwork and resin art to wreaths and custom cutting boards.

Once she discovered sewing, though, everything clicked. Today, Dianne experiments with fresh patterns and unique textiles to craft one-of-a-kind sewn treasures you won’t find anywhere else.

Please join us in giving Dianne a warm hometown welcome in the comments below, and stop by Variegated Roots this week to check out her collection in person!

There’s a little witch in all of us ✨🧹

And last night proved it! Our Witches’ Broom Workshop was such a fun, magical evening. Everyone’s brooms turned out stunning, treats and drinks were shared, and the laughs never stopped.

I sadly didn’t snap a picture of the floor at the end of the night, but trust me—the dried petals, ribbon clippings, and craft chaos everywhere was proof of a wildly successful night.

Want to join the fun? We have a few spots open for our next workshop on Wednesday, October 21st. Link in bio to reserve your broom!

The Cultivated Ground Spotlight: Dot and Doodle Fish 🐟

Playful patterns, coastal character, and an accidental obsession. Today, we are so delighted to introduce you to Gail, the artist and creative spirit behind Gail Paul - artist and doodler!

Gail has been an artist her entire life, creating across many different mediums over the years. Her fish painting journey started simply enough: she needed artwork to decorate the walls of her cabin in Down East Maine. But after finishing—and hanging—thirty-two fish paintings, she realized she couldn't stop!

Now, lucky for us, that delightful obsession has turned into a vibrant collection of patterned, whimsical fish art. Each piece brings a cheerful splash of coastal color, texture, and personality that feels right at home in any space.

Let’s give Gail a warm welcome to our collective family! Head over to Gail Paul - artist and doodler to follow her colorful creative journey, and be sure to stop by this week to pick out your favorite fish in person. 🌊

The Cultivated Ground Spotlight: Rustic Roots Crafts & Cocktails ✨

Thoughtfully handcrafted, wonderfully unexpected, and made to inspire slow moments. Today, we are thrilled to feature Danielle, the maker and curator behind Rustic Roots Crafts and Cocktails!

Danielle creates with a simple, heartfelt philosophy: crafting pieces she would genuinely love to have in her own home. Her eclectic, cozy collection bridges culinary craft and home accents—ranging from artisan cocktail infusion kits and small-batch loose-leaf tea blends to one-of-a-kind resin barware, bookish keepsakes, and framed botanical decor.

Each blend and piece is handmade with intention, meant to bring a touch of charm to your living space or invite you to slow down, unwind, and savor time for yourself or with good friends.

We’d love for you to give Danielle a warm welcome to our collective family—head over to Rustic Roots Crafts and Cocktails to follow along with her seasonal infusion recipes and handcrafted drops, and stop by the shop this week to browse her stuff in person! 🍂🤍
