At the Lyons’ Den… SCHOOL SUPPLIES OF DAYS GONE BY!

School bells are ringing, loud and clear;
Vacation’s over, school is here.
We gather our pencils and our books,
And say goodbye to fields and brooks,
To carefree days of sunny hours,
To birds, butterflies and flowers.
But we are glad school has begun,
Where work is always mixed with fun.
When autumn comes and the weather is cool,
Nothing can take the place of school.

At the Lyons’ Den… Glass Pitchers
Antique glass pitchers come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, but they all serve one purpose… to be a beautiful container that can hold liquid.

Antique glass pitchers range from utilitarian farm implements to ornate Victorian serving vessels. Characterized by heavy pressed glass, delicate blown-glass, sparkling cut glass, or decorative techniques like hobnail and crackle glass, they were typically used for water, lemonade, cream, or syrup.

To protect all your special antique glass pieces:
- Avoid Heat: Never heat or microwave vintage glass, as extreme temperatures can increase the rate at which heavy metals leach into liquids. �
- Hand Wash Only: Do not put any vintage glass in the dishwasher. The harsh detergents and intense heat can degrade the glass and strip any paint, increasing the risk of contamination.
