I am literally shaking with anger right now because a "master plumber" just handed me an $850 invoice for this! Look at this jagged hole in my wall! He mutilated my drywall like a horror movie villain just to replace a two-foot section of copper pipe! And he didn't even use a torch! He used these "ProPress" clamp things, squeezed a button, and charged me for three hours of "highly skilled" labor! Excuse me? I spend my hard-earned money to maintain my home and you manifest a car payment out of thin air for squeezing a metal tube together like a giant stapler?? My wife tried to tell me "at least the leak is fixed," but she is completely falling for the psychological warfare of the home improvement industry! LEGALIZED SCAM ALERT! It is a total magic trick in reverse—they leave a massive hole in your house and drain your bank account faster than the actual water leak! Am I overreacting or is the plumbing trade just a giant racketeering scheme designed to exploit homeowners who don't own a $2,000 crimping tool?

The contractor my wife hired quoted us $15,000 to finish the drywall in this new build and I am absolutely disgusted. I walked in and saw three grown men just playing around on a metal jungle gym spreading white icing on the tall ceiling. It is literally just putting paste over cracks so I offered them $14 an hour each because labor is unskilled work and they should be grateful for the job. One of them actually had the nerve to yell down that I was insulting their trade. Are these people delusional about their worth or am I overreacting?

I honestly feel like the biggest idiot homeowner right now. I waited two months for this paving company because everyone kept saying they were the best in town. Well they poured the new concrete yesterday and left this bizarre smooth border all the way around the edges like they completely forgot to brush it! When I asked the foreman why the middle is scratched up and the sides are slippery he just said it is a custom picture frame finish. PICTURE FRAME?? I am not hanging this on a wall I am trying to walk safely to my driveway! I paid $5,800 for a normal uniform path and now I have a slippery hazard border that looks completely unfinished. Is this a common scam or should I make them rip it out and do it right?

We’re deep in the framing stage, and getting these details right is the most satisfying part of the build. Not one contractor we contacted wanted to keep our pipes clean and up off the ground… so my husband Steve said, “Fine, I’ll do it myself.”
He took some extra pieces of wood, cut little notches into them, and made his own supports to keep everything lifted and protected under there.
Is it fancy? Maybe not. Is it exactly what needed to be done? Absolutely.
This is why I love this man. Contractors said no, Steve said “watch me.”

My apprentice refused to get in this hole because he said it needs 'shoring boxes' to prevent a cave-in. . I told him real men don't need a metal box to feel safe in a 6-foot ditch! If it collapses, just dig yourself out! I fired him and did it myself. OSHA is ruining the construction industry with these snowflakes. Who agrees?

Does anyone have any recommendations to get paint off of wood trim without damaging it?
We’re slowly updating paint colors in our house, and the realtor of the previous owners told them they needed to paint everything, and unfortunately they did an absolutely terrible job at it. There are splotches everywhere in the house like this where they were not very careful painting around the trim. I’ve done my own research, but was wondering if anyone has used anything specifically that has worked really well. Thank you in advance! 🤔💡🏠🎨😊👍

Paid $18,700 for this “professionally built” deck and now I’m questioning every single bracket holding it together 😡 The contractor told us these metal hangers and supports were “top quality,” but after a few neighbors pointed out uneven spacing and questionable cuts, I started looking closer. Some of the joists already look warped and there are gaps everywhere underneath. We asked for a clean custom build, not something that looks rushed together in one weekend. The company keeps insisting it’s structurally fine, but for this kind of money I expected craftsmanship not excuses. Would you trust your family standing on this deck?
