In mid July I spied a little black and white furball near the side porch at Yarnability
We found this teeny tiny kitten all alone and super hungry. My family took him home, bathed him and fed him. My daughter supplied hours of cuddles.
Thankfully we secured a foster through The Cat’s Voice WV and this little guy, who is no longer too little, is ready to find a permanent home!!

“Herman” is ready to come with you! Please share this with any feline loving knitters or crocheters.

Find Herman available online here: https://thecatsvoicewv.org/adopt

What would be a good yarn name for this boy? Stitches?

This Halloween, Join Kim at Yarnability to Learn how to crank a sock tube on a circular sock knitting machine!

You will get to watch the magic as you crank your own knit tube on a vintage circular sock knitting machine. Then to expand the magic even more, learn to turn your tube into a pair of socks with an afterthought heel, or stitch together your tube into a headband.

Event fee includes supplies and class: One skein of Appalachia Fibers wool blend sock yarn, waste yarn, and class instruction for converting your tube into socks and/or headband.

Prior to class: Students will need to come into Yarnability to choose their skein of yarn prior to the class date. Each hank will be wound into a cake prior to being placed onto a cone for the cranking.

Supplies: Bent Tip Darning needle, scissors, stitch holders, DPNS, Long circular for magic loop, or 2 circular method for sock knitting, US size 1 (or preferred needle size for sock knitting).

Cranking Date/Times: Saturday October 31 with 3 time slots available: 11:30am, 1:00pm, and 2:30pm

3 students per time slot available. Please choose your time slot during the checkout process. Your sock/headband class will occur immediately after you finish cranking your knit tube.

It's "Socktober" so why not learn a new technique and kick up your heels a notch?! (See what I did there?)

You may have even heard of this very popular short row heel pattern, the Fish Lips Kiss Heel by Patty Joy (Soxtherapist on Ravelry).

Join me at Yarnability on Saturdays October 10 and October 24  at 2:00pm-4:00pm to learn this sock heel. This is a 2 session class.

Class Fee: $45 for the class (not including tax) when you buy the project yarn at Yarnability.

Yarn: 100 grams of sock weight yarn (purchased at Yarnability)

Needles: US sizes 1, 1.5 or 2 (depending upon your gauge) DPNS, 2-circular method, or magic loop

Experience Needed:  Intermediate. Prior sock knitting and/or knitting in the round with small gauge needles and yarn.

Week 1: Pattern review, creating your own personal foot template, and casting on for toe up construction.
Week 2: Work the Fish Lips Kiss (FLK) heel

Pattern: This pattern is an INCREDIBLE deal for $2.49 purchased on Ravelry HERE!

The pattern designer gives praise that this heel has: No wraps, No gaps, No math, No picking up stitches

I can attest that I have used this heel pattern on both toe up and cuff down socks. I love the look, the fit, and the knit!

When you first open this pattern you may feel that it is a bit daunting. It is after all, 16 pages in length! But, do not be alarmed, those 16 pages are FILLED with endless helpful tips and pictures.

Class Registration: Sign Up for Class on the Yarnability website - link in profile.

PLEASE NOTE! You will have your foot measured and a template created during the first class. You will need to remove shoes/socks and be barefoot during this measurement. Clean feet and nails is required.

Yarnability will be Open on Friday, October 2 at 10am and closing early at 2pm.
