Claude and Helen are working hard to build deep relationships in Roanoke, learn about partner opportunities, and find ways to give back. If you want to connect, reach out and we can schedule a coffee or lunch. We want to know our communities so we can better support our communities! https://thegainesgroup.com/building-a-stronger-community-in-roanoke/

Today is and April says I should celebrate me. So:

"Stand Up and complain!"
"Don't let the sunshine ruin your rain! "
"It's called a garbage can, not a garbage cannot."
"Some people are born grumpy. I was born Grouchy."

Now get off my lawn, get back to work, and go be grouchy!

It is that time of year where mornings are wet and cool and afternoons heat up. So should your crawl space vents be open or closed. Open to allow the breeze to blow in and dry it out (but humidity is high so that doesn't work). Closed so the cold air doesn't cause dewpoint issues in the insulation in your crawl (but then the humidity is high and that creates mold issues). Learn more by following our blog and get insights that are local and specific to our area. A crawl space that looks like this doesn't have to be the normal in our area.

The loss of civic groups (bowling leagues, membership in Rotary, CSI) all have helped us enter echo chambers. We are fragmented and believe "they" are out to get us. But what if the problem is we are "they" and we are destroying our communities by adding to the echo.

I want to find a way, place, and time to have conversation across race, age, religion, political affiliation, and gender to build trust and friendship. Then we can address the issues where there is really debate that needs to happen. The issues where the right choice is fragile and narrow and will take work to get it right.

Do you have an idea of how and where this can happen? Do you have a suggestion of how I can bring people together to build community?

Give guidance on how I should take action to build community while combating negativity and encouraging togetherness.
