Thyme & Threads Long Arm Quilting

Thyme & Threads Long Arm Quilting We provide long arm quilting services to passionate quilters! What is “Custom”? Please provide enough material for an additional 4” on each side of the quilt.

Services Overview
At Thyme and Threads, we strive to provide the best quality of quilting for your projects. If you are not quite sure what type of design you want, we are happy to offer ideas if you want to take a quick picture and send it to us! Quilting Prices:
Pantograph Edge to Edge Designs - $0.02 per inch
Semi-Custom or Custom - $0.02 to $0.05 per inch (we will review the work requested and

send a quote before any work is done)

What is “Semi-Custom”? This is typically a quilting request where you have selected a pantograph for the middle of the quilt and then a separate border. This is typically a defined border and every individual square quilted separately and not part of a pantograph. Example of pricing:
69 x 90 (Twin) = 6,120 inches
Edge to Edge Design - 6,120 x $0.02 = $122.40
Standard fees for all quilts:
Setup fee: $25.00
Thread per bobbin: $1.50
All quilts require a 50% deposit if sent through the mail. Other Services Available:

Backing Preparation
Send the backing along with the quilt and we will prepare it for the long arm for a fee of $20.00. The backing must be at least eight inches larger in length and width than the top. (This allows enough room for the long arm to maneuver and provides a steadier flat surface for quilting.) Please press the backing fabric as well, this can be done for a $10.00 fee if you don’t have it already done. Sewing backing together - $20.00
Ironing backing - $10.00

Preparing the top of the quilt:
We will press your quilt and prepare it for the long arm for a $20.00 fee. Quilts must be pressed firmly. If you are shipping your quilt and it has been pressed prior to shipping, please work to ensure it has as few wrinkles as possible. There is no charge if the quilt can be quickly pressed where the fold marks are from shipping. Trim all hanging threads from the back of the quilt as they may show through on the light areas of the quilt. If the quilt has wavy borders or piecing with pleats and puckers, we will do our best to flatten these issues out, however, quilting cannot fix all piecing problems! We will do our best! If you have a preference on quilting top to bottom, please identify the top and bottom of both the top and backing for the quilt. The long arm quilting machine requires square backs and square sides, if you want to do curved corners please wait until you receive the quilt back. Ironing preparation: $20.00

Batting fees:
We typically carry king size and queen size batting which is warm and natural cotton for King and Pellon or 80/20 blend for queen or smaller. Prices depend upon what the going rate is when we order the batting. In checking with local quilt shops, they may have a sale at 50% off, but the prices are very similar to your local shop. Please call for a quote and we will let you know what the current charge is for your quilt size. HINT: Watch for sales on batting - often you can find a 50% off sale! Other helpful information:
All selvages of both backing and batting will be sent back with the quilt. The quilt will be trimmed and squared off for you, ready for binding unless you want to do this yourself (some people want to bring the back of the quilt to the front for binding). All quilts will have basting done on the edges and it will be left on upon return (aids in holding the quilt together for adding binding). Threads will be cut off from the quilt unless you request they are left on (some quilters like to bury their threads). There is a $50 minimum charge for any project.

Just finished up three quilts for donation to children with brain tumors, hoping they help the benefit coming up this spring. The quilting was fun!
Other quilts shown were from clients, family and just a few fun ones prepping for the art fair! Have a look!

Just finished this for a customer! Love to do these sampler quilts, you can use your imagination and modify patterns to make the quilt speak a bit more than they already do! Such fun looking forward to bringing it to the client. She is elderly and lives about 45 minutes away. She has no social media, so give her a shout out for her fun quilt!

Finally finished a quilt for myself! I took out the scrap baskets for blue and white and finished one up. This one was done on the Gammill. I am getting more proficient at this machine. Learning a lot. But the trusty Bernina Q24 is running solid for my customers!

A few newer projects, I keep forgetting to take pictures but for these few, I remembered!

The blue and white is a combination quilt of four different quilters supplying blocks for a wedding quilt. The turtle quilt is from a customer that creates her own patterns. And finally the home sweet home quilt is another customers gift for a wedding!

Lots more on the hanger ready to quilt!

Some of my recent projects! Lots of fun quilting for myself and customers!

Here are a few projects that I have been asked to quilt! They were fun and allowed me to use a lot of different patterns. I had purchased the “Hiding Out” pattern from Uban Elemenz, which is the cat hiding out in the first quilt shown.

On the last quilt I used the fish block from Bernina’s standard patterns along with a star sun pattern!

So much fun!

This quilt was one that I worked on while I was still working. I would go home and on particularly stressful days I would pull out the book and put together a few blocks and it would help relieve the stress. Over the last week I finally put it up on the long arm to finish quilting it. Each block was quilted with a design and I did rolling “O’s” in the sashing. I love the end result! And, I made two of every block so I have yet another quilt project in the wings!! I did a bright dark color on the back.

My mom and dad bought this quilt at an auction when I was in my early twenties. I am not sure the age of the quilt, but it was all hand stitched. I think it is beautiful and cannot imagine the time it took. I was asked to quilt it and man, it took over a week to complete. We chose white muslin for the back. The edges were very wavy so I had to work some tucks into the sides. Overall I am pleased with the end result. My mom did stop over when I had it on the long arm and approved the patterns selected. I think I will be sad to deliver it back, but she will bind it and display it for others to appreciate.

Just finished this quilt, with ruler work, free motion and electronic patterns! It had wavy borders and lots of bunching in the middle, but the patterns helped smooth it out. I love the colors and cannot wait to give it back to the quilter!

I used different colors to match the fabric and show off some custom quilt work.
