🌸☕ FLOWER CAFE FAMILY UPDATE ☕🌸
This weekend is a big one for our family!

After the café closes today, Theresa is heading to Galesburg to help pack up Truman's apartment at Knox College. Grace will be holding down the fort with Cole on Friday, and Tim and Anna Mae will join Cole and Grace on Saturday for Cafe and Farmer’s Market.

We'll be closing a little early on Saturday (sometime between 12:00 and 1:00 PM) so the whole family can head south for a very special celebration.
On Sunday, Truman graduates from Knox College! 🎓
And then...

🥁🥁🥁
Truman is officially coming home.

Now, we know there are a few people in town who have expressed a concern. After months of careful training, coaching, and quality control, Cole has learned exactly how everyone likes their coffee. We've heard rumors that some customers are nervous they'll have to start all over again with Truman.

Never fear.

While Truman is excited to officially join the café full-time, Cole has discovered that he genuinely loves making coffee and plans to keep plenty of barista hours on the schedule. In fact, he's already informed us that he'll be available to step in and remind Truman how things are done around here if necessary.

Meanwhile, Truman is counting down the days until he can spend every day at the café, serving coffee, helping grow the business, and being part of the community that has supported our family from the very beginning.

The schedule is back to normal next week—and if your coffee order is unusually perfect, you'll know Cole was nearby supervising. 😉☕🌸

We’ve seen them around town, and today they stopped in to see us! Miss Amanda’s tots- all the way from the rec center! We thought about espresso shots, but decided on smoothies and tulips for everyone…. 😉🌸☕️

This week we experienced one of those florist moments that stays with you.

A boutonnière order came through a wire service for Monday delivery. We thought the timing seemed unusual and even reached out for additional information, but while we waited, we went ahead and prepared the order to make sure we stayed on schedule.

When Cole arrived for delivery, we learned the flowers had actually been intended for prom weekend.

There was a very disappointed couple and two moms who thought everything had been taken care of — and honestly, our hearts sank right alongside theirs.

The difficult part about wire services is that local flower shops are often the face of orders we did not personally take, schedule, or communicate through. Sometimes important details are lost or transmitted incorrectly along the way.

We will not always be perfect — we are human — but one thing we can promise is that when you call us directly, walk into the shop, or message us personally, we will work hard to understand exactly what you need and help make sure the important details are right.

And honestly? Even if it’s not us, our advice is always to find a local florist you trust and work with them directly whenever possible.

There is something special about having a real person on the other end who knows the community, understands the event, and genuinely cares about getting it right.

Mother’s Day week at Flower Cafe Hartford was one we’ll never forget. 💐☕️

This little shop was absolutely full of life all week long — flowers everywhere, coffee flowing, laughter behind the counter, and so many familiar faces walking through the door.

We hosted a Hartford Area Chamber Of Commerce meeting, welcomed the Hartford Union High School District Accounting 2 class to chat finances with Tim, and our friend Spelios gifted a record number of flower and coffee carriers! We saw so many walk-in orders, visits from our regulars, and so much kindness from this community. Our friends Grace and John were so generous with cafe help and deliveries - thanks to both of you!

Truman made a one-day cameo home from school — his last visit before graduation (in 28 days, but who's counting?) — and Grace came straight from finishing exams to jump in and help on Saturday. Meanwhile, Anna Mae and Cole headed out of town to take care of a beautiful wedding while the rest of us kept the shop moving through one of the busiest weekends we’ve had yet.

And yes… we were still going strong on Mother’s Day itself as we finished up the final orders. 🌸

We are tired in the very best way.

Thank you, Hartford, for continuing to show up for us, support us, and make this place feel so special. This weekend was full of hard work, laughter, chaos, community, and moments we’ll remember for a long time.

Now we rest up a little… because next weekend brings the Classic Car Show and the start of the Farmers Market season. ❤️

We’re so grateful to have been a small part of such a meaningful Mother’s Day celebration at The Gardens of Hartford. 💐

Flowers have a way of bringing people together, sparking memories, and making ordinary moments feel special — and it was an honor to share that with the wonderful mothers and residents in this community.
