Happy Wednesday planty friends ☺️

I spotted this little baby finally unfurling today during a watering 🪴 it’s about time for a repot!

I hope you have all have had or will have a chance to get out and enjoy the nice weather!! My heart needed some sun so I will be outside soaking it all in! 🌻

🪴 welcome to the family 🪴

When you get a new plant, it’s important to keep it isolated away from others for at least 30 days to ensure no bugs or diseases are being transferred from the new to the established.

We want to make sure our new plant friends are happy in their new environment but we don’t want any casualties of established plants in the meantime.

🪣 Bucket List 🪣

🌵 A Prickly pear cactus was on the top of my bucket list and it never fails, when you’re looking for it, you can’t find it!

🌵After looking nearly everywhere last summer, I stumbled upon the jackpot of prickly pear ON CLEARANCE!! right before the cold weather set it.

🌵 he’s been hanging on all winter but we are definitely ready for warmer weather and some sunshine to keep this baby growing!

-Opuntia (or like variety) aka Prickly Pear are flat stemmed, spiny cacti that can bear edible fruits if placed in the right conditions!

🥭 the edible fruit is often known as “tuna fruit”

🔥 they prefer a warm dry climate but if after the winter yours seems a little shriveled and gray, they tend to perk up quickly in the warmer spring months!

☀️happiest in full sun

💧well draining soil to prevent unhappy roots! These cacti are extremely drought tolerant and typically enjoy being watered 1-2 times a month

🌸 typically bloom mid- summer! About June- July

I personally have too many to count but it was fun to check this one off! 😊🌵

Got bugs??

🌱this little guy did🌱

* this sapling is a cutting from a Weeping Fig Ficus that has been passed down through my family.
* I am a sentimental person so this tree has been my baby. He.will.live.

When I was looking at it the other day, I noticed the dreaded infestation. He had scale. 😭🪳

After the initial panic wore off- I inspected and immediately quarantined and sprayed it down with a Neem oil spray to kill all of the bugs. After letting that sit over night, this guy got a good scrub down with a toothbrush and a rinse off in the shower.

He is now repotted in a fresh pot with clean soil and my fingers are crossed that he survives and the scale is gone 🤞🏼

He will stay quarantined away from the other plants and I will continue to check those to make sure the scale didn’t spread. But for now, it’s just hoping we contained it and no others are affected!

Wow- what a hiatus. Sorry for being MIA for the last couple of months- here are a few updates!
🌵I have started a new career position in the midst of the holidays and let me tell you- it was, A LOT at once. But I’m back!
🌱Trailer designs are underway and I’m excited to dig into it all this spring!
🌿we’re officially a LLC as of December and are looking forward to exciting happenings this year!

I hope your holidays went well and your 2022 is off to a good start! I’d love to hear what exciting things are happening for you this year!

I love this little pot 🤓 he fits in so perfectly in my home office.

Do you have a 🪴pot preference? One color or colorful and eye catching? Terracotta or ceramic? Etc…?

Finding a happy home for your plant is equally as important as the plant care schedule. Having a pot that has enough drainage holes and air flow for the individual plant needs is a must!

🐍 S N A K E P L A N T 🐍

Aka Sansevieria or Mother in laws tongue will always be one of my personal favorites. They are low maintenance and I feel like all of mine grow best when I simply leave them alone (and look at that pup coming through 😍). They also have a lot of fun facts about them!

☁️ one of the few plants that releases oxygen at night instead of during the day. A great addition into a bedroom for some fresh, purified air throughout the night!
💧 very drought tolerant, like to be watered about once a month
☀️ these resilient plants can live in low to bright light but if given a choice, would prefer medium indirect light
🪴 one of the few plants that enjoys fitting snug in its pot, being slightly root bound is okay for these guys
🌡 adaptable to a large range of temperatures and conditions
👍🏼 great for beginners and a beautiful addition to any home!
