A few updates today and a story.
I love estate sales. I love walking through a home that more often than not shows the love and warmth that once echoed through its rooms. I like to take my time to look at each room as a whole, imagine who lived there, what stories the walls could tell. What holidays might have been like, or growing up in a particular area was like during different decades. I love to think about how cherished certain items may have been, if they were given as gifts from loved ones...and so on and so forth. You get the idea. My morbid curiosity has me looking up who lived there and checking for obituaries. I like to attach a name to the items. Some items I buy knowing full well I am keeping them. Last night, I drank tea from a mug that once belonged to a woman named Ruth. I think of her every time I use it, or look at the picture by the front door that was hers. I hope she knows her items have either found a second chance at life with me, or with others who purchase from me. This is why I love second hand. These items have history, meaning and stories to tell. They also have more life to give and stories to collect.
You'll find these treasures and more at . 3 floors to explore - we are on the 2nd floor.
