George and Barbara Wagner returned from a great trip to Colorado where George officiated his grandson's wedding. They had a great time. While they were gone, the store was busy. Saturday - in the midst of 20+ customers in the store, I realized there was a leak coming from their apartment. While talking with George on the phone, a young couple - Danny and Casey - (first time in HdG, first time in our store) walked up to the counter and said, "We're here, and we're ready to help. What can we do?"
I was astounded. They talked with George on the phone and did an amazing job while I worked with customers. It was not an easy task. The space they had to work in was very tiny. In the meantime, a friend of ours, Larry, walked in to leave something for George. He saw what was happening and said, "I'll be right back. I need to get something from the truck." He came back with the tool they needed to make the job much easier.
In the meantime, George contacted two friends (Joe and Brian), and they came in to go upstairs and determine where the leak was coming from - the hot water heater. They took care of making that area safe until George got back.
Customers were awesome as they maneuvered around our mess. And Danny and Casey walked up when they were finished to say, "Not to worry, we put everything back. It may not be how you had it, but it'll all back and off the floor."
I don't know how this 'antique' who helps out at the shop deserves such great folks, but I am so thankful for them as are George and Barbara. A bit of chaos, but crisis avoided. Thank you to absolutely everyone. I love the folks who come into Bahoukas Antique Mall and Beer MuZeum!
