Julie’s camera roll, Portugal edition part 2 🇵🇹

The more Julie explored the city, the more she could picture herself living here.

She loved the rhythm of it, the slower pace, the streets full of people, the little cafés and shops, and the feeling that life was happening all around you. There was something really authentic about the way people live here that stayed with her long after the trip.

Safe to say, Portugal made a pretty convincing case for a future move.

Picking a wood color is about more than choosing your favorite shade.

Especially when it comes to flooring, the tone of your wood can make everything around it feel warmer or cooler. That’s why we always look at the bigger picture before making the call.

Our rule of thumb? Pick a direction and stick with it. If your wood has warm undertones, build around warmer tones. If it’s cool, keep the rest of the palette cool, too.

Julie’s camera roll, Portugal edition part 1 🇵🇹

Portugal was full of inspiration around every corner. Julie loved how unique the landscape felt—from the quaint villages and fishing towns to the coastline—and couldn’t get enough of the architecture, colors, and details throughout each place we visited.

A few favorites from the first part of the trip, including our first stay, a perfect beach, and plenty of stops along the way. More to come from Portugal.

Why stop the view at the window?

For this project, Halle and the team designed the bedroom around the mountains outside, even placing the windows to line up with the natural view.

Then they brought that landscape inside through the colors and textures—the greens of the trees, the gray of the stone, and the softer tones found throughout the mountains.

It’s a good reminder that sometimes the best inspiration for a room is right outside of it.

A little market day inspiration with Julie and the girls.

Halle and the fam spent some time at furniture market shopping for new materials, checking out what’s new, and finding fresh ideas to bring back to our design projects.

As Julie put it, “Shopping for materials with Halle is always FUN!!!”

We’ll take any excuse to spend a day surrounded by beautiful things and come home with a head full of new ideas.
