The Arranger's Market Here at The Arranger's Market we deal in all things flowers. Any equipment we offer (vase brushes, clippers, etc.)

Our flower arranging supply shop is for those who want to create beautiful arrangements but don't want to spend hours doing it and don't want to use environmentally unfriendly materials (like floral foam). We specialize in easy-to-use but hard to find containers that are smart (in that they hold flowers without additional elaborate mechanics), simple, and sophisticated. Because we believe the purpose of flower arranging is to celebrate nature, we also like containers that keep the focus on the plant material, not on the vessel holding it. is something we know works better than anything else on the market.

I received the loveliest bouquet from one of my sweet daughter-in-loves this past weekend. She told me it cost $14. Whaaaa?!?

Naturally, I had to put it to the test.

I tied my hands behind my back and gave myself one rule: I could ONLY use the flowers and foliage that came in the bouquet. No adding a thing.

And guess what? There was actually enough material to make a real arrangement. Not just a little rearranging of the bouquet, but enough to deconstruct it and create something entirely new.

And this is where I have to give Wegmans some serious credit. The bouquet had enough variety, volume, and, most importantly, cohesion to actually work as a floral design. Unlike some grocery-store bouquets where you get one of everything and the stems seem to have been introduced to each other only moments before you put them in your cart.

So, $14 Wegmans bouquet? I’m impressed!

“Botanical Whimsy” at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden was all about playing with flowers in unexpected ways. I had particular fun deconstructing a gladiola and giving its individual blooms a life of their own. The little flowers I glued to the outside of the vase lived happily without water for days and days. Proof that sometimes flowers don’t need to behave the way we expect them to.

These intimate classes really are the best. There’s plenty of room to experiment, play, and actually get to know your flowers.

If you’ve been thinking about joining me, there are still a few spaces in two of my fall classes:

🍂 Falling for Leaves — November 10
🌾 Fresh Meets Dried — November 18

I’d love to have you there!!!

Last week I facilitated an arranging workshop for the wonderful ladies of the Goochland Garden Club.

I brought along this arrangement as an example and, after going over a few principles of design and identifying some of the material, I set everyone loose with the bounty of blooms I had brought.

Then came speed arranging! With the entire event packed into 75 minutes, there was no time for dithering—just flowers, creativity, and making it happen!

It felt a little like turning kids loose in a candy store. 🍭

I was especially proud to see how many embraced a foam-free approach.

What a wonderful group!
