We're turning twenty, and this one's for you. 🎉

Since 2006 Vertical Builders has been building homes across Central Virginia, and the part we're proudest of was never the framing or the finishes. It's the families who trusted us with the biggest thing they'll ever buy, and the people on our team who show up every day to get it right for them.

Most people design a home for the life they're living the week they move in. The smartest ones think about the life after that as well, and we can guide you through both.

Bruce is certified in Aging in Place Design. While that might sound like something you won't need for decades, it really isn't. It's a main-floor bedroom that serves as an office for ten years, until the day you need it to be a bedroom. It's wider doorways and hallways. It's a walk in shower.

None of it looks like a compromise, and that's the entire point. When you build these features in from the start, they cost almost nothing extra. Retrofitting them later, however, costs a fortune. Design for the long haul from day one.

October at Lake Anna is special. The summer crowd's gone, the water's still warm enough, and the trees are just starting to turn.

There's a homesite at Compass Cove with an Oakdale going on it. It's not framed yet, and the finishes are still yours to choose. Floors, tile, the kitchen and much more. There's a room above the garage on this home, which you can finish or leave unfinished, and judging by last Wednesday, you all have strong feelings about that.

This is the version of building people don't realize they can have. Not a finished home somebody else already designed, but a faster way to design and live in the home you'll love.

Unfinished room over the garage: Spacious future bonus room or glorified storage locker?
When you build with us, you have two choices:

• Finish it now: Everything's open, the trade crews are on-site, and you move into a completely finished house on Day 1. • Leave it for later: Wait until life tells you what you actually need the space for (office, nursery, cave, or gym?).

Pro tip: It's a whole lot easier (and cheaper!) to finish it today than it will be in five years when you have to clean out all those boxes.
