This little cutie combines three of my favorite things!
1. Natural wood - I love some paint and am NOT a wood snob! So many pieces can be saved with paint, but it’s not always necessary, and I love the look of natural woods - whenever they can be saved.
2. A cement-like, textured, painted finish. I love this look. This top could NOT (🫣) be saved. Often when that happens I like to implement this finish, or similar. It uses paint, powders, water - and lots of mixing, experimentation, and trial and error. Every time! But it can cover a multitude of imperfections. ✅
3. Decoupage. I’ve done it lots of times on lots of things, but never in combination with my textural paint vibes from #2! I was worried about it going over the texture smoothly, but it worked! I’ve used this same verbiage (tissue) paper three times now with success, and this is my last large piece. (I’ll have to find a way to use the scraps left over from three project tables, as well. It’s too good to waste!)
I believe this sweet girl was an album cabinet at one time - just seems to be missing the dividers. She could be again, since albums still fit perfectly inside, of course. I tried a few from my own collection, just to make sure. I named her Stevie (for obvious reasons - see last picture), but feel free to rename her. 😉
