A couple days ago I finished up these rag placemats - my first real project using my knitters rigid heddle loom. I’m so happy with how they turned out - I’ll be warping for two more in the very near future. I wove them using strips of fabric I’ve had in my stash quite a while. I’m so happy with how they turned out - I’ll be warping for two more very soon. I used my handy Oster pet grooming comb to beat the strips nice and tight. It’s one of my favorite fiber combing tools, too : )

I haven’t been on here a lot lately- honestly, my daily life isn’t all that exciting, though I’m always making something- or thinking about making something… I still make loads of stitch markers, but sometimes this woman needs to work on something new and different, if you know what I mean.
I recently finished up my first afterthought heel socks. I made a blank in my knitting machine and dyed it for alternating stripes. The blank isn’t much to look at, but I’m thrilled with the socks! And they definitely needed the afterthought heel to complete the design! Next in my needles will be socks for my son- his request is for a pair in a gradient going from a bright blue to purple. I knit the blank today, hoping to dye tomorrow, but we’ll see.

I finally got around to my second pair of by . I’ve had the fabric washed and ready for several months, and was motivated to get sewing by a recent comment on my previous pair. I used the same altered front pocket as before (slanted top to mimic bib pocket, and integrated into the side seams), and raised the back pockets 1”. I changed the straps by adding a loop to the back, and made a removable buckle style strap using 1 1/2” Soft Waistband Elastic. I sewed a large snap on the strap to keep it flat and in place, and added a button to the front facing area to cover my hand stitches. Now I have the straps done for more, which will be a nice timesaver. I also added a narrow drawstring and casing to the back waist to add a bit of shaping. These are so freaking comfortable in the stretch denim and elastic straps! I may need to go ahead and make the flannel ones I was planning - they might turn into my evening lounging stretchies, as we call them in our house... ok, , I want to see your Yantas : ).

I’ve been experimenting with the warping board my hubby recently made for me. I used to set up chairs and walk laps to create the long skeins needed to dye stripes. The longest I could get without taking the experience outside was about 14 yards, but I squeaked out a 21 yard skein with the warping board - that’s a loooooong skein! I love the center pull ball I made with my antique nostepinne. I guess I have some 🌈 socks in my near future. I’m so happy that it’s a center pull - I am kind of fascinated by the rainbow swirl on the ball. 😊 I’ll most likely be adding some striped sock sets to my shop- just need to see how they work up so I can do some stripey mathematical planning. What do you think? Would you like some stripes?
