How much do you really use your Bright brushes?

Trekell Pro Team Artist David Rice uses our Golden Taklon Bright brushes for almost everything, from covering large areas to painting surprisingly small details.

By changing his grip, angle, and pressure, he gets a wide variety of marks from the same brush shape.

David recently shared some of his favorite techniques with us, including how he uses the corners of a Bright brush for detail work.

Did you know you can use pastels on wood panels?

Trekell Pro Team Artist Kate Zambrano created this beautiful piece on our Oval Floater Panel, and we love how she incorporated the natural wood into her artwork.

With the right preparation, our Baltic birch panels can be used for oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pastels, and mixed media.

Kate used Golden Pastel Ground to prepare her panel, and she shared her process with us.

Who says watercolor has to stay on paper?

Trekell Pro Team Artist Mallory Hart took her watercolor paper and mounted it to one of our Coffin Block Panels, giving her the surface she loves to paint on with a completely different way to display the finished piece.

She also shows how she adheres the paper, trims it to fit, and seals the finished painting.

Have you ever picked up two synthetic brushes that looked almost exactly the same, but felt completely different once you started painting?

There’s actually a lot more going on in those little fibers than you might think. The taper, texture, thickness and spring of the filament can all change how a brush holds paint, moves across the surface and responds to your hand.

Two panels. One story.

Our Diptych + Triptych Panels are back for October, and Trekell Pro Team Artist Danica Sills shows just how much you can do with more than one surface.

For her diptych, Danica created two paintings that can stand on their own but become a larger story when viewed together. She used composition, symmetry, value and repeated elements to connect the two sides, even considering the space between the panels as part of the finished piece.

We also broke down Danica’s process on the Trekell blog if you want to see how she approached it before starting your own.
