We’ve been told, in one way or another, to edit, simplify, pare things back.
But maximalism has a different philosophy.
It’s about letting pattern, colour, scale and personality have a little more room to play.
Let one room lead you into another. Mix patterns that relate without matching. Repeat a colour or motif. Create a little surprise around the corner.
The trick isn’t simply adding more.
It’s making more to discover.
And as Dolly so perfectly put it: “But I like more.”
A fitting sentiment, and a lovely reminder of a woman who never seemed interested in being anything less than herself. 🤍

Most people stop decorating at eye level.
We think that’s where some of the most exciting opportunities begin.
Designers often refer to the ceiling as the fifth wall, yet it’s frequently left untouched.
But imagine if it became part of the room instead.
A painted sky that lifts the ceiling.
A trompe l’oeil that introduces architecture where there was none.
A celestial map that invites you to look up.
A landscape that transforms the ceiling into another horizon.

It’s easy to think of a room’s quirks as limitations.
A low ceiling.
An awkward bulkhead.
A dark corner.
An unusual wall.
But more often than not, these aren’t problems to solve, they’re opportunities waiting to be reimagined.
The most memorable interiors rarely begin with a perfect room. They begin with a designer willing to work with the architecture rather than against it.
Every challenge has the potential to become the room’s defining feature.
Sometimes all it takes is looking at it a little differently.

Every collection begins somewhere.

For Architectura, it began in Italy.

While travelling through the country, photographer Benjamin Edward Birch captured moments of architecture, texture, light, and atmosphere that linger long after a place has been left behind.

Those moments became more than photographs. They became the foundation for four richly textured wallcoverings, each one preserving the remarkable depth and detail of the original imagery while inviting a new experience of place.

Perhaps the greatest souvenir isn’t something you bring home, but something that stays with you long after you’ve returned.

Summer has a way of reminding us to look up. Whether it’s a sky full of stars or the glow of fireworks overhead, some of the most memorable moments happen above us.

We think the same should be true indoors.

The ceiling is often the last surface to be considered, yet designers have long referred to it as the fifth wall, an opportunity to transform not just a room, but the way it is experienced.

Our Zodiac Vellum ceiling mural was created for exactly that purpose. Inspired by celestial charts and the quiet wonder of the night sky, it invites the eye upward, creating a space that feels immersive from every angle.

To those celebrating the Fourth of July this weekend, we wish you a wonderful holiday. And to our friends around the world, we hope you’re finding reasons to look up this summer.

Trianon began as a return to painting.

Inspired by the romantic garden murals of Versailles, it was the first in our hand-painted mural collection and Shelley Weinreb Art first mural painting in nearly twenty years.

Over time, we’ve noticed something interesting.

The towering trees don’t simply create atmosphere. They change the way a room feels.

Their vertical movement draws the eye upward, making ceilings appear taller and spaces feel more expansive.

Perhaps that’s why we’ve seen Trianon find its way into everything from children’s rooms and powder rooms to homes belonging to a few familiar faces.

Not bad for a mural that began with a brush, a blank canvas, and a little inspiration from Versailles.
