A bedroom should feel like an exhale. In this Pasadena primary suite, every detail was thoughtfully chosen. The linens are soft. Plants add a touch of green and airiness to the room. Pieces gathered from travels, each holding a memory, make the space feel unmistakably lived-in and personal.
When my clients come home, I want the door to close behind them and the day to fall away. That is the quiet luxury I design for: a room that asks nothing of you and gives you everything you need.
If you are ready to create a bedroom that feels like yours, my design calendar is open for new projects in November.

The house is officially dressed for Halloween, and I am delighted by every detail.
There is a particular joy in this season. The light turns golden earlier, the candles come out, and the decor brings in the Halloween spirit.

Holiday decorating, at its best, is storytelling. It is the one time we give ourselves full permission to be theatrical at home, and the rooms feel more alive for it. Halloween asks for texture, shadow, and a little mystery, which are the same ingredients that make an interior feel layered and lived in year-round.

If your home could use a seasonal refresh that feels personal, considered, and entirely effortless, I would love to help you shape it.

Before and After:
These past projects were fun transformations. It’s one of the best parts of being an interior designer to see a project transform from a drawing and design plan into a beautifully finished space.

1. Highland Park bathroom remodel
2. Arcadia bathroom remodel
3. Oxnard loft
4. Woman’s Club of South Pasadena bathroom restoration

Have you ever wondered what a Designer takes to a consultation?
This is what’s in my bag: a tape measure, a notebook, a design summary, a fan deck, and metal finishes.
We start by walking the space together. I take photos and video as we go, noticing how the light falls and how they move through the space. Then we sit down with the design summary and inspirational images chosen from their design questionnaire.
This is where the design process truly begins. Before I draw a single plan, I need to understand how someone lives in their space and how they want to feel when they walk through the front door.
The tape measure gives me dimensions. The conversation gives me everything else.

Some of the best square footage in a home is hiding in plain sight.
This little loft in Oxnard used to be an unused closet. Now it's a cozy TV nook, tucked away and quietly proportioned for one purpose: relaxing.
With the gloom and rain settling over LA these 2 days, spaces like this feel more relevant than ever. Somewhere to curl up with a book, press play on a favorite film, and let the weather do its thing outside.
Good design does not always mean more space. Sometimes it means noticing the space you already have and giving it a job.
Dreaming of a cozy corner in your own home? Send me a message and let's find the space you didn't know you had.

The Atwater Village kitchen is nearly finished.
Soapstone countertops bring depth. Heath tile adds handmade texture and warmth. Mixed metals throughout let the fixtures feel collected rather than matched.
These photos capture a kitchen built to be lived in, cooked in, and gathered around for years to come.
At RJH Design Studio, we are accepting new clients for the fall. The fall is the perfect time to get started on the design process.

This kitchen remodel is almost complete. I can’t wait to share when it’s finished.

Summer is not over yet. The nights are still warm. But the mornings tell a different story now, with backpacks by the door and school lists taped to the fridge, the first signs that this season is beginning to turn.
This space was designed for exactly this moment. A long table for the last unhurried dinners before schedules tighten. Cushioned seating that holds a whole family at once, still in swimsuits, in no rush to go inside. String lights for the nights that run later than planned.
Soon the mornings will be about lunches and backpacks and getting out the door on time. There is comfort in that rhythm too.
Design that holds a family through every season, including the ones that ask us to slow down before they end.

A well-designed room has layers, and the most interesting layer is almost always the one that came from somewhere unexpected.
The Long Beach Antique Market is one of my favorite sourcing grounds, not because everything there is interesting, but because the right things are there if you know how to look.
Antiques do not compete with new furnishings. They complete them. They are the reason a room stops feeling like a showroom and starts feeling lived in.
If you have been wondering why your space feels finished but not quite right, the answer often lies here.
