Sometimes the smallest spaces pack the biggest punch.

The powder bath is where we encourage clients to be a little bolder. If you’ve been curious about a dramatic wallpaper, a rich paint color, or a statement-making stone, this is the place to try it.

Small spaces naturally invite creativity. They require less material, less commitment, and often deliver the biggest return in personality.

And because it’s one of the most visited rooms in the house, why not make it memorable?

A few of our favorite ways to add personality:

👊🏻 Go bold with wallpaper.
👊🏻 Treat the vanity like a piece of furniture.
👊🏻 Layer in statement lighting.
👊🏻 Don’t be afraid of color.
👊🏻 Add something unexpected.

Shelf styling, simplified. 📚

One of Javier’s favorite tricks is the TLC Method: Tall Objects, Layers, and Curves.

Start with height, add depth, then soften the arrangement with something curved. It’s a simple formula that brings balance to bookshelves, consoles, and built-ins alike.

TLC is a great starting point, not a strict formula. As Javier shared with Apartment Therapy, “You have to know the rules before you can break them.

Have fun with it, trust your eye, and most importantly, include pieces that mean something to you. That’s what gives a space personality and makes it feel lived in.

Thank you to for the feature.

The best closets balance two things beautifully. Function and fantasy.

On one hand, the practical details that make daily life feel effortless. Thoughtful storage, specialty lighting, glass-front cabinetry, seating areas, even a tucked-away bar for slow mornings or winding down at the end of the day. The kinds of elements that turn getting dressed into an experience instead of a routine.

But the spaces that really stay with you are the ones layered with personality. Antique furniture mixed into built-ins. Collected runners underfoot. Statement wallpaper in unexpected corners. A dramatic mirror, a fringe chair, shelving styled more like a library than a showroom.

A luxury closet should never feel sterile or overly engineered. It should feel personal and entirely reflective of the person who uses it.

It’s one thing to design for others, but another to practice what you preach. 🏠

Javier’s home is a reflection of the same principles we bring to client projects: mix materials and periods, edit with intention, and let the space tell a story. The difference is, this one is entirely his own.

What makes it work is balance. Vintage finds sit alongside contemporary pieces. Wood, leather, metal, and stone all share the same room without competing. Each layer adds depth without adding noise.

We find that clients often struggle with incorporating their own collections into a home that still feels cohesive. They worry it will look cluttered or disjointed. Javier’s space is a master class in how to do it right.

A few of his house rules:

• Mix time periods, but keep the palette consistent
• Let materials do the talking, texture over trend
• Give your best pieces breathing room
• Edit ruthlessly, then edit again

The result is a home that feels personal without feeling precious. Comfortable enough to live in, considered enough to last.

A kid’s room should still feel like a kid’s room. 🧸

Full of imagination and the little details that make them feel like themselves. But we also love designing spaces with enough depth and timelessness to grow right alongside them.

The goal is never overly themed. It’s creating a room that feels personal and genuinely cool at every age. A place for books on the floor, forts in the corner, and eventually late nights spent studying or listening to music behind a closed door.

Good kids’ spaces leave room for who they are now and who they’re becoming.

Morocco reminded us why travel is such an important part of the design process. 🧿

Seeing the culture firsthand, sourcing materials in the markets, meeting local artisans, and taking in the architecture and color everywhere we went gave us so much inspiration for future projects.

We also had the best time experiencing it alongside friends and people we admire in the industry, , , and .

Truly one of those trips that leaves you coming home creatively energized and full of new ideas.

To us, the best spaces are built the same way the best flea markets are... layered, unexpected, and full of things with a story behind them.

Loved seeing .burklecreative featured in sharing some favorite sourcing spots from around the world. Whether it’s a flea market in Round Top, an antique stall in Mexico City, or a tucked-away vendor overseas, some of the best pieces are the ones you weren’t necessarily looking for.

Part of becoming a great designer is learning how to source well. Trusting the hunt, developing an eye for what’s special, and building spaces that feel collected over time instead of overly designed. 🏺

The spaces that stay with us most are often the ones that reflect the landscapes that bring us peace. 🍃

For us, great design has always started with a sense of place. Whether it’s the warmth of the desert, the ease of the countryside, the energy of the city, or the calm of the mountains, the best interiors take cues from the environments that make us feel most at home.

It’s less about decorating around a specific theme and more about pulling inspiration from your surroundings in a way that feels relaxed, natural, and lived in.

With our very own getting married last week in Puglia, Italy, we’ve had all things ivory on the brain. 🕊️

We saw the drama unfold when announced Cloud Dancer as their 2026 Color of the Year, but the truth is ivory, cream, and soft white tones have always been some of the hardest-working neutrals in design. When layered correctly, they can make the rest of your space flow effortlessly.

It’s less about the starkness of the color and more about depth through texture. In our own spaces, you’ll see ivory used to bring balance to darker palettes, soften architectural lines, and create a foundation for rooms that never fade into the background.

Equestrian decor is a trend we’re happy to place our bets on because it’s a style that never goes out of fashion. 🏆

It’s less about going full stable and more about layering in rich woods, saddle leathers, tailored plaids, and a well-placed nod through art and objects that feel collected, not themed.

In our own spaces, you’ll see it in:

• the patina of a chest
• the structure of a stripe
• a gallery wall that leans heritage
• a quiet bronze tucked into a vignette

A well-bred mix that keeps a room timeless, grounded, and always just ahead of the pack. 🐎
