Every once in a while, a piece comes through our doors that makes us stop and say WOW! 😍 And this is definitely one of those pieces!

We have a customer who travels to Nepal and brings back some of the most incredible artwork and frames. And we're fortunate enough that he trusts us to bring the two together.

Now, when I say these pieces are intricate, I mean INTRICATE!

The frame itself is hand-carved, with an incredible amount of detail and craftsmanship. And the artwork? Hand-painted with just as much attention to detail.

It's amazing to think about the time, patience, and skill that went into creating each of them.

And while we love showing you the projects that come through our shop, I have to tell you...

This photo doesn't even BEGIN to do this piece justice!

There are so many tiny details that you really need to see in person to fully appreciate.

One of the things I love about custom framing is that we get to work with artwork from all over the world. We may be a little frame shop in Highland, Indiana, but some of the pieces that come through our doors have traveled thousands of miles to get here.

And there's something pretty special about being trusted to work with pieces like these.

We're honored that this customer continues to bring his treasures from Nepal to us, and we can't wait to see what he brings back next! ❤️

What was your favorite game or toy growing up? And more importantly...do you still have it? ❤️

We recently had a customer bring in something that held a whole lot of childhood memories...but here's what made this project even sweeter.

It was his wife who brought it in for him. ❤️

Her husband had a collection of little metal hockey players from a vintage tabletop hockey game. You know the kind...where the players moved around the rink as you controlled them from the sides? Almost like foosball, but with hockey players!

She wanted to find a way to preserve and display the individual players.

And that's where we got to have a little fun! 🏒

We designed a miniature hockey rink, printed it right here in the shop, and mounted it onto matboard to create the perfect backdrop. Then we carefully attached the individual metal players and brought everything together in a shadow box.

The result? A little piece of his childhood, now transformed into something he can proudly display on the wall.

And I absolutely love the thought behind this.

His wife knew these little hockey players meant something to him. They weren't just old pieces from a game. They were reminders of something he loved growing up.

And instead of letting them sit tucked away in a box, she found a way to make those memories part of their home.

Sometimes the best gifts aren't new things...they're the things we've loved for years, given a new life. ❤️

It's also a great reminder that custom framing isn't just for photographs and artwork. Sometimes it's for the toys, games, and little pieces of your childhood that you just can't bring yourself to part with.

Speaking of superpowers...

We recently framed this awesome piece of Superman artwork for a customer who is a HUGE Superman fan.

I love when someone is so passionate about something that they build an entire collection around it. Whether it's superheroes, music, sports, or something completely different, there's something really fun about seeing what people choose to surround themselves with.

We don't have to be Superman fans ourselves to appreciate how much this artwork means to the person bringing it in. Our job is to help make sure it looks fantastic alongside the rest of his collection.

No cape required. 😂

Sometimes you find a frame that looks like it was made specifically for the artwork. 😍

And this was definitely one of those times!

The gold tones in the frame complement the gold in the artwork so perfectly that it's almost hard to imagine the piece framed any other way.

And that's one of my favorite things about custom framing.

Sometimes we spend quite a bit of time exploring different combinations of frames and mats, trying to find just the right look.

And sometimes...you put a frame next to the artwork and immediately know you've found THE ONE. 😂

It's those little details that make such a big difference in the finished piece.

The frame doesn't have to steal the show. It just needs to make the artwork look its absolute best.

And I think this one does exactly that. ❤️

Hoosier Highlander is CLOSED today, Saturday, October 3, while our family takes some time away from the shop for a special family event. ❤️

We'll be back and ready to frame all the things on Tuesday, October 6 at 9 AM, when we resume our normal business hours.

So if you were planning to visit us today, hang onto that artwork, photograph, keepsake, concert poster, needlework, or whatever else you've been wanting to frame...and bring it to us next week!

Just a reminder that we're closing early TODAY!

Hoosier Highlander is open this morning, but we'll be closing at 3 PM today, Friday, October 2, for a special family event. ❤️

If you need to pick up a finished project, drop something off, or want to start a new framing project, you've still got time...just make sure you beat us here before 3!

We will also be CLOSED tomorrow, Saturday, October 3.

We'll resume our normal business hours on Tuesday, October 6 at 9 AM.

Okay, Cubs fans...how fun are THESE?! ⚾️

We recently had the chance to frame these three vintage Chicago Cubs visors, and they're the kind of memorabilia that instantly makes you wonder how many kids once proudly wore something like this around.

And just look at the different Cubs designs!

They're such a fun little snapshot of another era...right down to the advertising on them. The green visor even features an old Tip-Top Bread advertisement.

Individually, they're really cool pieces of vintage Cubs memorabilia. But putting all three together turned them into a collection that deserved to be displayed instead of tucked away in a box.

This is also a perfect example of why we always say you don't have to bring us traditional "artwork."

Old sports memorabilia, childhood keepsakes, souvenirs, ticket stubs, patches...if it means something to you, there's probably a way we can get it out of the box and onto your wall.

Now we're curious...Cubs fans, what's the oldest piece of Cubs memorabilia you still have? ⚾️❤️💙

A little heads-up if you're planning to stop in and see us today! 🚗

The September Big Restaurant Crawl is happening today, which means Highway Avenue in front of Hoosier Highlander will be closing at 2 PM.

But WE ARE STILL OPEN UNTIL 5 PM!

If you want to stop in after 2 PM to start a new framing project or pick up something we've already finished for you, you absolutely can.

To make things easier, just come around to the back of the shop and use our back door. That way you don't have to worry about navigating the street closure out front.

So don't see the barricades and assume we've gone home. 😂 We're still here, still framing, and happy to help until 5!

And after you visit us, you'll already be in the perfect place to enjoy the Restaurant Crawl and support some of our fellow Highland businesses. ❤️
