A little peek behind the scenes at Palmer House Designs and reminder of our working hours 🤍

Creating beautiful, intentional spaces means balancing time in the office with time out in the field. Our time includes meeting with clients, sourcing, styling, and bringing designs to life.

Monday is my dedicated office day, while Tuesday–Thursday you’ll typically find me in the field working on client projects or conducting design consultations.

Our studio hours are 10–4 Monday through Thursday, with Friday–Sunday reserved for time away to recharge and come back inspired.

I have been in the design industry for 6 years. While that does not seem like a long period of time, it has been unequivocally the most pivotal years of my career. It all started with an interest, became a passion and eventually developed into an entrepreneurship, greater than I could have ever imagined.

However, while designing seems “fun” and “easy” it is a far cry from such (but what profession is easy?). Many situations have occurred that I could never predict and have had to navigate but there is beauty in the lessons that were learned.

Have I had projects and clients make me cry? Yes.
Have I had clients “yell” at me for contractor mistakes? Yep.
Have I had a contractor quit on a client site? Yes, to that too.
Have I had a contractor take advantage of my clients and steal their money? Sure have.
Have I had to be the one to have the hard conversations with clients of the above situation? Yep.
Have I made mistakes? Of course, I am human.
Have I had clients where we did not align on personality, process or design? Absolutely.
Have I had to make hard business decisions for the future of Palmer House Designs? Yes.

That is just the short list of situations I have encountered simply as a decorator. Did I handle all of these situations with grace? My husband would say no (ha!) but I did survive them. I have learned to take personal emotions out of business, trust myself and whom to give trust to and how to be resilient.

And through all, a few things will remain to be true…my passion for design, care for the relationships I build with clients and I will always be a fierce advocate for my clients when they’re committed to the process. Their home is just as important to me, as my own. Here’s to the future years in designing ahead. 🤍⚜️

Sometimes it’s the smallest rooms in the home that leave the biggest impression.

Mixing old to new gives character. This powder room speaks beautiful vintage charm in a new build in . The antique vanity was a family heirloom that was used as dresser and now transformed into a vanity…making it even more special!
