Good Bowls wants to build a community kitchen and garden in the Chapel Hill area. Our healthy meal and medically tailored meal programs are expanding across the state and we're working with more local NC farms so we need space to grow!

There are over 850,000 students in North Carolina that qualify for free and reduced lunch and for many of them school breakfasts and lunches are their primary source of nutrition. To help ensure that these kids have access to healthy food over the summer break NCDPI in conjunction with the NC Food Bank operate the Summer Nutrition Program or SUN Meals.

Good Bowls is excited to be participating in this program this summer and we'll be serving students in Chapel Hill and Durham.

Good Bowls are usually frozen, but for this program we'll be serving hot lunches. We'll be using some of our kid-tested, kid-approved recipes that include a whole wheat pasta with fortified marinara sauce (spinach, cauliflower, and squash blended in) and we'll also be sending out the kids version of our Country Mac and Cheese with BBQ chicken and plenty of broccoli and carrots.

Program starts June 1st so stay tuned for some photos.....
