Blue & White ceramics have existed for centuries and was deeply loved by a broad swath of cultures. Europe was late to the game, making copies of Chinese designs without the recipe to create “hard past” porcelain from China (hence the generic moniker “china”). Same with Delft. Most of the examples here are English ironstone. Durable, though less refined than the much-admired elegance of proper porcelain. Still, it’s all delightful in my book.
