One of my favorite ways to use tulip bulbs is to interplant them in my containers with pansies. Tulips need to be planted in the fall as they need to chill (literally!) for several weeks.
For your container, add about 4-5” of potting soil, place your tulips about 2-4” apart by and about 6-8” below the rim, add more potting soil, and then top with pansies. The pansies look great by themselves but when the tulips pop through in the spring, it’s so exciting because it took all winter for them to bloom!
Pictured are tulips from last year and this year I have ordered some specialty tulips that were favorites. These will be available at my farm or at Made Market NWA until they are gone.
**See previous post for varieties and let me know if you have any questions.

Every Spring when the tulips bloom, people ask me how they can grow these unique flowers.
The secret is these bulbs have to be planted in the fall because they need a chilling period of several weeks before they can bloom.

Gus turned 4 this past week. His birthday was on a day that 40+ homeschool kids came to the farm to learn about monarch butterflies. He thought they came for his birthday. I didn’t tell him any different 🐾

I have some native plants available at the farm if anyone is interested.
🍃Shrubby St John’s Wort- this is a tough as nails plant getting 2-4’ tall, not picky about soil, deer don’t like it, and it does fine in part shade or sun if it has some afternoon protection. $5 each
🍃Lindera Benzoin (aka Spicebush) is a host plant for the Spicebush swallowtail butterfly- it likes shade (morning sun is fine), it’s more of a tree rather than a bush as the name says and mine is about 15’ tall (but it’s 20 years old) $7 each
🍃Coreopsis lanceolata- is a beautiful yellow flower that blooms its heart out until mid summer, sometimes it will rebloom in the fall but I don’t rely on that. It gets 2-3’ tall and likes full sun. $5 each

Pickup is at my farm in Hindsville and cash or Venmo is preferred.
