VTER Home is being recognized by Thank you Dan Uslan 🤩
The article
26 years in the same home, Sharon and I made a bold move.
We moved five blocks. We packed up decades of furniture and memories and relocated roughly the distance of a determined Chicago dog walk. But sometimes a new chapter calls for a new space.
Once we had the keys to our new River North condo, Sharon and I realized that making it feel like ours would require a few thoughtful improvements. Naturally, my first move was to grab a copy of Modern Luxury Interiors Midwest for inspiration.
The most important decision hiring the right general contractor. We were fortunate to work with the extraordinary Robert Miles. No flashy website, no massive staff, just highly personalized, bespoke work delivered on time and on budget.
We also had the pleasure of working with Roksolana Veter of VTER Home in Hindale, whose Design Build Firm created several custom elements throughout the home. My favorite might be the restaurant-style bar for our entertainment room, where I can display spirits I’ve collected over the years. Recently I added two everyday favorites from Chicago-based companies: Sonali Patel’s FINO Añejo 30-month aged reserve tequila and Lizzy Lopez’s Tequila 1349 Reposado. If you stop by our place and I insist on making you a cocktail, now you know why.
Meanwhile, Sharon needed to travel frequently during this process. The obvious choice was Convoy Chicago transport service, led by managing partner Hervé Girinesa.
Their team handled every detail of Sharon’s travel, making each trip seamless and taking one more stress off my mind.
Our longtime home has now been listed by Emily Sachs Wong of and her trusted team, including Landon Harper. As it happens, Emily herself is the cover star of this month’s Real Estate Issue. Her tagline is “Ask Emily,” and based on our experience, that’s advice you can take very seriously... especially if you’re looking for a home in River North.
Whether you’re moving across the country or simply five blocks away, creating a space that reflects your life is one of the great pleasures of home.
Thank you, as always, for reading this month’s issue.
