Here’s one of those little details that makes a handmade piece feel *finished*.

Instead of leaving the backs of my wood tags plain, I give them a quick coat of paint and then add a simple stencil pattern.

It doesn’t have to be complicated — checks, stripes, dots, or a small repeating pattern are perfect.

And honestly, this is also a great place to use those stencils you love…but never quite know what to do with.

It only takes a few extra minutes, but now if the tag flips around or you see it from the side, there’s a little unexpected detail on the back.

Because sometimes it’s the parts you *don’t* notice right away that make handmade pieces feel extra special.

After a busy 1st week of school, we were blessed with a gorgeous day today (which we have off, by the way). My husband was able to cut more wood blanks for anyone who wants to make desk sitters and wants precut wood blocks! Based on everyone's suggestions, I have decided to leave the letter block I made as is and use the rest of the blocks I have to create more vowels in different bold colors that pair with this blue. I think I'm going to stick with the "Build a Name" idea for this upcoming show and see how it goes. If it flops, I have about a month to redo everything before my bigger events in Novermber and December. I used ChatGPT to decide on the ratio I would need based on common names in the U.S. Here is the breakdown if you are considering a project like this (Note: I don't blame you if you're not... I'm kinda regretting this idea but like Sally Lex Radovich said... "what's done is done"... It's not worth turning back now. 😁
