☕ The Weekend Edition: five tips for this weekend’s sale run

1️⃣ Friday for first pick, Sunday for the deals. The best pieces are gone in the first hour, and many estate sales go half off on the last day. Go both days if you can.

2️⃣ Grab the quilts. Dealers say nearly every good quilt sells right now, wear and all. Two-color quilts (white with red, blue or green) go first.

3️⃣ Pack a magnet. Sterling and solid brass won’t grab it. If it sticks, it’s plated steel, so leave it on the table.

4️⃣ Halloween has two selling weekends left. Only buy spooky stock that will sell fast. Christmas blow molds (Empire, General Foam) are the smarter buy this weekend.

5️⃣ Price it before you pay for it. Snap a photo in the aisle and see what it really sells for in your market, before the money leaves your pocket.

I used to price my booth the way most of us do. Pull up eBay, filter to sold, take the middle number.

Then I’d stand there with the tag in my hand, wondering if anyone walking my aisle would actually pay that.

A sold listing tells you what one stranger paid online, with shipping and a whole country of buyers. It doesn’t tell you what your shoppers will pay.
