Clever grandparents put “no close” safety hinges on this beautiful early 19th c. antique blanket box. Strong enough to sit—and even jump—on. Great height for little ones struggling with shoes and boots…
They used as a toy chest and later for extra seating and a place to stow miscellaneous mittens…dog leashes…legos…(ouch)..the sort of items we all have….😉
Early pine with a beautiful warm finish. Excellent condition. Hand dovetailed and planed, wide thick early boards. No working lock.
Two Hundred years and still strong and lovely—working hard doing exactly what it was crafted to do!
ON SALE this weekend for $150

That’s me—upper left in photo—collapsed on a stone after 2 days of carefully packing, moving, and loading into the shop a discovered trove of very unique, genuine, long stored early pieces—including art.
Grateful for the unforeseen benefits of a 24 year old son committed to daily gym workouts….(That membership may be the best business investment ever made 😉)
Predicted rain Wed meant one last load needs to be packed and moved today.
A bit of a drive….so likely won’t be back in the shop to open until late in the afternoon on Thursday, 4/25.
***As always—could not run a small one woman business without your support and understanding—THANK YOU! I have such great customers.😊

I love her.
Everyone knows—because she’s hiding in the back by the books.
Not your typical 19th c. oil on canvas portrait. Long ago a talented artist seriously pondered—then captured her. Not only the small details of the unusually soft lace collar at her neck and the thickness of the naturally tightly curly hair framing her face (both out of style for the time)…but…the EYES!
Unlike typical period portraits she doesn’t face us. Nothing is stiff, or posed.
Chin up, her lovely unconventional face—with its deeply intelligent and sensitive eyes—gazes off to the right—beyond artist and viewer. Focused on the future. (On us!) With strength. And understanding.
Antique 19th c. oil on canvas portrait of a young woman. No visible signature. (Not removed from frame)
In excellent condition, including antique hand carved wood and gilt custom period frame. (Believed original to the portrait)
Priced at $495
One of my favorites. Inspires every day!
