Anderson Tuftex's new wool rack landed at the showroom this month, and it is worth a trip to Peter's.

Loop and cut pile side by side on pull-out trays — Tactile in five colors, Mixtura in three. All of it 100% wool, which means it is the fiber every synthetic on the market was built to imitate.

Here is the short version of why people choose it. Wool's natural crimp springs back, so the lanes you walk every day don't turn into a permanent traffic pattern. The lanolin in the fiber holds a spill on top long enough for you to blot it. It is the longest-lived of the common carpet fibers, and it is biodegradable at the end of it.

You want the marble. Your kitchen may want the quartz.

We have this conversation at the sample table almost every week. Somebody brings in a photo of a marble island, and the honest answer is that marble is a material with opinions — acid etches it, and etching does not wipe off. Quartz has quietly caught up on the look: the veining runs the full depth of the slab now, so a mitered edge still reads like stone. It just asks for soap and water instead of a sealing schedule.
