We are visiting Lazercon 2026’

This is our first Lazercon and real introduction into AP machines.

The venue is packed with project examples you can make on their lasers on a wide variety of materials.

While smaller than some events, the crowd is really engaged and enthusiastic about pushing their craftsmanship.

Have you TRIed TRILayer acrylic yet?

While it may look intimidating the 3 things you can do to help get great laser engraving results are:


- Turn your air assist off or low for the engrave

- Do a slight defocus instead of autofocus

- Do a test grid for settings

Does your engrave look striped instead of smooth 👀

If you’re seeing vertical or horizontal banding in larger engraves, here’s a quick troubleshooting tip to try.

First, always start with a test grid to dial in your settings. But keep in mind — settings that work on small tests don’t always translate perfectly to larger fills.

Banding can come from:
• Design setup
• Loose belts
• Calibration issues
• Other mechanical factors

But if everything mechanically checks out, try this 👇

Instead of engraving at your normal autofocus height, manually set your engrave to a slight defocus.

For this test, we kept the exact same settings on both samples. The only difference?

We manually adjusted the focus height from .12” to .2”.

The result = a smoother engrave with noticeably reduced banding ✨
Sometimes a tiny focus adjustment can make a big difference in large-area engraving.
