This is one of the pieces ill be bringing with me Sunday. These are called Toe-Biters or Giant Water Bugs (Belostomatidae). They have a nasty bite that is just as scary as they look!

They are the largest true bug species and ambush their prey (which can include things like tadpoles, fish and other small pond creatures) and inject them with a paralyzing saliva that helps liquefy their prey for easy consumption. Speaking of consumption these are a common snack in local markets in Southeast Asia!

This is not a common preparation for this species- often their elytra (wings) are left closed but I wanted to showcase that this species is not only found in bodies of water but on land as well. They are frequent nocturnal flyers!

Male toe-biters act as living nurseries for their young. Females lay eggs directly on males backs and they're responsible for keeping them aerated and safe before hatching. I absolutely adore these little weirdos and while theyre a bit unnerving to look at they are incredibly interesting.

Ive got such an exciting lineup for October! Three events in three different cities you can find me at!

Up first is my favorite local event in Houston, Texas ObscureHouston Oddities Market! This will be their largest event of the year and they're partnering with Markets From the Crypt 🕯️ to bring you even bigger and better selection of vendors, live shows, a costume contest, games and more! Ive been looking forward to this event for months 🎃

Toward the end of the month ill be in Austin and San Antonio for those of you that missed me earlier this year or just need to stock up on gifts for the upcoming holidays! Ill be at a rad new antique & oddities shop called theantiquemule on the 30th. Then the following day for Halloween you can catch me in South Town Déjà Vu Esoterica - Southtown for an afternoon of witchy artisans before all hallows eve.

Dallas, I had a blast this weekend 🖤 Some of my largest pieces found their homes with you, I got to spend quality time with 💀 Brenna Greenwell 💀 and we had a cute little walk to work every morning in the cemetery. Thank you all who stopped by to say hello or find something new to add to your collection!

Newst finished piece- inspired by the end of summer and this strange handmade pot I found at the thrift store. Someone must have donated their old projects or those of a loved one because there was a massive collection of similar work- this one in particular spoke to me. The mechanics of the arrangement are disguised and elevated so you can still peer through the holes in the bowl. Id like to think the original potter wanted them to be a focal point and wanted the admirer to peek through the holes so I wanted to keep them clear.


As usual, I love hiding lots of bugs in my work. See how many you can spot! Hint: there are 7 real specimens and one faux one leaving a slimey little trail. (One beetle, one brown widow, two butterflies, one American cockroach, two dainty bees and a snail.)

Any way you turn it there is something new to look at!

Exciting news! After years of requests I finally have a tiny corner of the internet to myself as a fybe. | no ai arts marketplace approved vendor. If you cant catch me at an event local to you or need a gift for any occasion you can now shop online with me!

Ive spent the last few days uploading a small selection of unique insect frames, vintage trinkets and some medical goodies from historic local pharmacies (Tristram in Brenham and Star in Galveston). One of my favorite features about Fybe is that it is a NO AI platform so everything is human made and approved. This means each listing I upload goes through a human verification which can take a little time. Right now my shop only shows a single listing but I promise I have so many more that are pending approval and should be live soon!
