Saw House

Saw House The Start-up of Saw House The two Cantu brothers, Jose and Hector were brought up with strong work ethics. Saw House Inc. building. to their existing location.

In the mid-90s while attending college they worked as technicians for a local dealer. They decided to branch out on their own in the winter of 99. Understanding in order to start a business, it would not be an easy task. First, they needed a location, with no capital in hand, they proposed to their parents if they could work out of their 800sq ft. garage with the condition of moving to a bigger lo

cation as the business grew. Their primary goal was to cater to the arborist industry. felt arborists where being neglected by other dealers who focused their business toward the landscaping industry. While most on their revenue came from small engine repairs, in 2002 Saw House Inc. expanded to the resale of ECHO professional outdoor power equipment. Working out of their parent's garage helped keep their overhead costs low, thus, used the money saved to purchase a property close to the area were they grew up. The property measured exactly one acre and was heavily wooded. To save money, they decided to take on the challenge themselves. Every day come closing time, around 5 o’clock, they would catch the last three hours of sun light to clear and remove trees. In 2003, Saw House decided to add an additional line of professional outdoor power equipment, STIHL. Working on being distributors of a wide range of arborist products such as climbing equipment form Buckingham Mfg, climbing ropes from Samson and New England, and professional pruning tools from Fred Marvin, STIHL was now part of their new line of choice. In 2004, Saw House added Safety Supplies, and Traffic Control Equipment. Having greatly expanded their product line and service shop from its beginning in 1999, Saw House became known as one of the largest Arborist Suppliers in the Southeastern Texas area. In 2005-2008, powerful hurricanes (Dennis, Katrina, Rita, and Ike) struck the United States. These hurricane seasons were very demanding for Saw House as it supplied tons of arborist supplies to the East Coast and Gulf Coast, as utility contractors moved from state to state removing downed trees from power lines to have power restored. In 2009, Saw House finished construction of their new 5500sq ft. The additional space gave them the opportunity to bring in a commercial line of self-propelled mowers, walk behind and riding lawnmowers. EXMARK was the new line of mowers to continue the expansion into the landscaping industry. In 2010, Saw House launched their e-commerce store sawhouse.com to tap into the arborist online market.

2012, was a very challenging year for Saw House not for lack of business but the misfortune of having their location burglarized and set on fire during the peak season. A third of their building sustained heavy fire damaged the rest suffered a significantly amount of water and smoke damaged. Damage to building and contents exceeded over $200,000. They did not let this catastrophic event hold them down. It was taken as a stepping stone to continue forward. By working hard they were able to bounce back on their feet in less than two weeks. Presently, Saw House has had a tremendous growth in sales, from in $40,000 in 1999 to projected sales of over 3 million for 2012. They went from a two man operation to eight employees, representing over 80 different manufactures and also catering to the landscaping and construction industry. They are currently planning to add 10,000sq Ft. They credit success to their customer service and strong family work ethics. They are not too proud to still pick up a broom and get dirty or turn a wrench if the need be.
