Handmade soap contains glycerin which is a natural byproduct of the soap making process, an excellent moisturizer and also one of the reasons that handmade soap is so good for your skin! ... Store bought, mass-produced bars normally do not contain glycerin and can leave your skin feeling dry and irritated.

100% lard soap ( 6% super fat)

32 oz. pure lard (Usually 2 lbs. Tenderflake)

I added 1 oz almond oil at end of mixing. Cut after 24 hours. Cure 5-6 weeks.
Smells so fresh and clean.

More great homemade cold processed soap facts:

What's the earliest you can use cold processed soap?

The earliest is after saponification, which is somewhere around 72 hours after you make it. This just means the lye is no longer dangerous.

However, it wonโ€™t be its best (or as mild), until after the cure (4-6 weeks). I actually prefer a 3 month cure.

Uncured soap also dissolves quickly.

Saponification is the chemical process of breaking down fatty acids (from our oils) with a reactant that results in soap, a surfactant or cleansing agent. In order to break down the triglycerides, which are are comprised of three fatty acids and a glycerol molecule, we need a strong base to do so. This is where our sodium and potassium hydroxide come into play. These allow the bond between the glycerol and fatty acids to be broken and then can react to form soap. This is the chemical reaction to form soap (image below). After the chemical reaction, there is no remaining lye in the product. Thus, soap does NOT contain NaOH/KOH, but it must be made from it (or another strong base).
