It usually happens at the worst possible time—you press the button, hear a loud BANG, and suddenly your garage door will not open. That sound may be a spring finally giving way after years of lifting and lowering one of the largest moving objects in your home.

What can contribute to spring failure?

🌡️ Extreme temperatures: Central Illinois heat, freezing cold, and dramatic temperature swings can stress metal components. Cold weather can make already-weakened spring wire more brittle, causing worn springs to fail.
