If you love Connors but hate Bridge Street — and especially the parking — you’ve got another option now with The Chop House in Madison.
Both restaurants are operated by the same group, and there’s definitely a lot of similarity in quality, atmosphere and menu, but they have slightly different personalities.
The Chop House leans a little more toward Southern comfort food and classic steakhouse fare, while Connors feels a little more like a polished contemporary steakhouse.
Probably the best example is lunch.
Angela ordered the turkey and dressing, and apparently it was good enough that she cleaned the plate before I could even get a bite. 😂 It’s basically Thanksgiving dinner in the middle of the week, and she’s already decided that alone is reason enough to come back.
I went with the steak and baked potato, and it was exactly what you’d want from a place like this — straightforward, well-cooked steakhouse food without trying to reinvent anything.
If I had to sum them up:
The Chop House = upscale comfort-food steakhouse
Connors = polished contemporary steakhouse
We’ll definitely be back, especially for lunch. Apparently having somewhere in town where Angela can get Thanksgiving dinner year-round is now a major selling point. 😂
Fun local trivia fact: it’s on “Graphics Drive” because it’s located where Intergraph used to be… and yes, we just dated ourselves a little.
