We're. Almost. There.

About 98.5% of the way. We will show up this afternoon at 2:00 and sign a few (hundred :)) documents that will offically make 420 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS, the property of Jon and Janice Richardson. To say we are over the moon with this outstanding couple buying our building cannot be stated enough. Hutchinson peeps, keep your eyes peeled for something FANTASTIC coming to 5th and Main. I'm not sure of their plans, but I am very excited to see what our former yarn shop/event space will become.

I would like to acknowledge a few folks that we can never, ever, express enough gratitude in the way they came to the plate to help us at various points in this amazing journey.

Karrie Ruebke, we SO HEART YOUR FACE! What would we have done without you? You created the most beautiful yarn we could ever imagine! (BTW, Karrie is continuing in her own dyeing business, Faithful Fiberworks). Check her out! When Andrea had her health scare last year, you stepped up, and with our other dear friend Jeff Spangler, beautifully ran the store for months as Andrea recovered. We cannot thank you both ENOUGH!

Heather Walsh Barringer, thank you for all the graphic art work you did for us! Your creativity was amazing!

Thank you to our incredible fiber/crafting community! You all supported us through thick and thin over the last seven years and three months. Thank you for coming to the plate during our challenging 2024. For organizing various fundraisers to help with Andrea's medical costs. We are deeply indebted to you all.

But...we aren't done! We are seriously considering returning to doing several day retreats annually, like during the good old Knitting Savant days! Stay tuned to that!

Thanks, again to our beloved Hutchinson community. We will always believe in US!

Many seasonal decorations, books, games, puzzles, crafting items, hardware supplies, etc. We need it all gone, so we are making incredible deals. Fill a flat box for $5, or make us an offer on bigger items!

One. More. Day.

It all began with our business model, Knitting Savant, about 14 years ago. We did overnight knitting retreats in cool, small towns in Kansas, utilizing equally cool venues. Our goal was to nurture the fiber arts community, and we hope we accomplished that goal.

Eight years ago, we made the commitment to take the next step, and open up a brick and mortar store in downtown Hutchinson. We decided to name it The Wool Market & DIY School. Our mission was to foster community through fiber arts. In August of 2018, the journey began.

Fast forward to today. Andrea and I, through those years, worked hard to make the space, everyone's space. We met some very amazing people along the way.

Welcoming people, and making them feel comfortable, was our main objective. We hope we have succeeded.

Success doesn't always show up on a balance sheet. Our measure of success came in the form of community. We strived to be the best we could be. We are proud of seven plus years of perfect five star ratings on Facebook and Google. But most importantly, we hope that our customers shared our sense of community. We hope we have fostered a sense of belonging. We appreciate every. single. person. that has walked through our doors.

So it's on to the next thing. We don't know what that looks like, yet.

We love our community, and plan on sticking around. Y'all locals are stuck with us.

We hope we have served you well.

The first thing we purchased after we bought the building was this sign below. It was displayed on our cash wrap every day we were open. We so strongly believe this. Again, I hope we have stayed true to our word. So, tomorrow, December 23rd, at 5:00 PM, we lock the doors on our dream.

We thank each and everyone of you.
