SOS 🆘 We need a little help from our amazing community! Thanks to your generosity, our roof repair project is officially underway, and the front portion is almost complete. We are so grateful for everyone who has donated, shared, encouraged, and supported this effort. To finish the project, we need a couple of tree branches trimmed and removed so the roofing crew can proceed with the remaining work. If you own a landscaping or tree service company, or know someone who might be willing to help with this community project, we would be so thankful. We've come so far together, and we're hopeful that one more helping hand will get us across the finish line. Please message us or tag someone below who may be able to assist!

I picked up a paintbrush today for the first time in over two years.

If I am being honest, one of the very first things I lose when I am worried is my creativity. And boy, were the last few years full of worry. Worry about finances, the future of the store, and simply trying to keep all the plates spinning. Somewhere along the way, I stopped painting.

This morning, though, I woke up with an eagerness I haven't felt in a long time. I wanted to put a brush back in my hand. I wasn't even sure if my oil paints were still good. They were.

The smell of oil paints, the slow movement of color across a canvas, the quietness of creating with no expectation other than enjoying the process. I'd forgotten how much I missed it. Oil paints have always been my favorite.

I find it funny that the very first thing I felt inspired to paint was a ghost. One could say I'm simply getting ready for the fall months ahead. But maybe, just maybe, it's my way of putting some of the ghosts of the past where they belong. Onto a canvas instead of carrying them around.

Maybe creativity doesn't disappear when life gets heavy. Maybe it just waits patiently for us to come back to it.
