Wood or LVP flooring? Which do you choose?

If you live in Idaho and are one of our clients you have heard this over and over again. Idaho doesn’t love wood. It moves so much in our homes as temperature and humidity change throughout the year. But it’s beautiful and truly the look and feel everyone wants.

The alternative is LVP (or luxury vinyl plank). We have seen it become super popular over the last decade because of its easy maintenance, water resistance, and beautiful colors and textures.

There are inherent pros and cons of each. We can help guide you to make the right flooring decision for your home and lifestyle. This is what we do throughout the whole design process from flooring and finishes, to layout, to final fixtures and furniture. Summer is winding down and honestly it could t come fast enough. I could really use some calm back in my life. 🫠 These finishes bring that calm feeling even if life doesn’t seem to be slowing down. If you are looking for a calm retreat incorporate cool tones, soft or matte finishes, nubby textures that remind you of cozy sweaters, and a touch of nature. I could see these in a bedroom/bath retreat or a lovely library.

Before and After magic time!

You can see how this bathroom felt crowded and darker even though they had already painted the cabinets white. What it needed was more natural night, mirrors, and lighting to let you breathe more. We removed the corner cabinet that are up so much space. Then we replaced the counters, sinks, sconces, mirrors, and faucets. And lastly we opened up the shower with a glass surround and new tile work. No more is it “travertine as far as the eye can see.” The shower didn’t change its footprint but it felt so much larger by the end. I call it a successful update when we can reuse some of the original and still get an amazing transformation.

I am so very grateful for my younger self that said, “just do it. Go open your own business.” Eleven years later here I am with my small but mighty team providing great design in East Idaho. The road hasn’t been smooth but what business journey is. I’ve learned so much, met amazing people, and have had a blast. I have even opened another business which lets me continue to grow and stretch my business wings. Thank you for being my right hand gal right now. No space is too small to deserve good design. We had the pleasure of remodeling these 2 bathrooms. From a dated 90s look, they both now have classic glow ups that are timeless. We were able to add storage, a full length mirror, character, and still magically make it all feel larger. That’s the goal of any design, to make sure every decision adds to the experience.
