🌿 About the Author — Sherry L. Root 🌿
📚 Her new children’s book, Seven Painted Turtles, will be released on December 13 at the Written in the Mitten Holiday Market, where she’ll also be doing book signings and live readings.

Author Sherry L. Root started her life near the river, growing up in a small village in rural central Michigan. She attended elementary school in Riverdale just one mile north of her childhood home. After graduating from Alma High School in 1974, she attended Bible School in the rolling hills of Kentucky and later obtained her L.P.N. at nursing school in Alabama.

After completing nursing school, Sherry moved back to central Michigan and bought a little house by the river where she currently resides. Since retirement from nursing, she enjoys many happy memories and makes new ones on her little piece of Heaven by the river’s edge.

🐴✨ Meet Our Handmade Hobby Horses!
Your little cowboys and cowgirls will round up so much fun as they gallop around on these adorable stick horses. The ribbon bridles are securely sewn on and built to hold up to all the rough riding your kiddos can dream up. Sherry has been making these stick horses for four decades, and children keep proving they’re still a favorite toy. 🤎

Each horse measures 34–36 inches from the top of the head to the bottom of the covered wooden stick. They’re crafted with furry fabric, filled with polyfil, finished with a frayed-yarn mane, plastic eyes, and pink-felt ears. Handmade with care, sturdy enough for adventures. 🐴💫

🦄 Playtime becomes pure magic when these unicorn hand puppets come out to put on a show! Their sweet little faces are sure to bring smiles to the sweet little faces in your life.

Each puppet is crafted with white faux fur, pink felt, gold metallic fabric, plastic eyes, and soft frayed yarn for an ultra-fine, ultra-fluffy mane. They measure about 12” tall from the top of the head (not counting the horn or ears) to the hem, and roughly 8” across.

Sherry first began making puppets using a purchased pattern, and over time started creating her own variations. This unicorn design is a smaller, hand-puppet version of her popular stick horse pattern. 🦄✨

Let’s shine a spotlight on the illustrator behind Seven Painted Turtles — Shanna Bennett! 🎨💛
Shanna lives in Detroit and has been creating art since childhood. Her imagination has always been a world of its own, and her passion was sparked at just nine years old after seeing a classmate’s artwork.
She believes her artistic gift was given to her by the Lord, and over the years she has grown from doodling for fun to illustrating full stories. Working on Seven Painted Turtles has inspired her dream of writing and illustrating her own children’s book someday.
We’re so excited to share her beautiful artwork with you at the book’s debut on Dec 13!
