LDD | Transformation!

One of my favorite transformations at my apartment in El Poblado, Medellín Colombia named: Casa Clara. I removed the walls surrounding the old service area and opened the entire space up, completely changing the flow of the apartment.
The former service quarters became my new guest bathroom, which is still getting another layer of beautiful tile, and the old washer and dryer plumbing became the home of my farmhouse sink and disposal. (Nobody has seen a garbage disposal here 😂 - I ordered it on Amazon and my workers didn’t know this even existed!)
It’s still not finished, but I wanted to share some of the progress that’s already been made. I love looking back at these photos because they remind me just how much we changed. This wasn’t simply a renovation. Reimagined how the apartment lives. 🤍

Some objects don’t need to make perfect sense to earn a place in a room.

I came across this wonderfully strange, hand-built ceramic bird vessel and couldn’t leave it behind.

Turn it around and it becomes something entirely different. Lift the wing and it reveals itself as a lidded vessel. And underneath: Major Branzel, 1973–74, Benicia.

More than fifty years later, it still has personality to spare.

I’m always drawn to pieces that make you stop, look twice, and wonder about the hands that made them.

Would you have brought it home?

LDD | Art where you least expect it… ✨

I actually walked right past these sculptures, but then something made me stop… turn around… and walk back for another look.
One of my favorite discoveries in London wasn’t inside a museum- it was in the windows of the amazing iconic Selfridges.
Hank Grüner’s “High Hopes & Lies” is playful, unexpected, wonderfully imperfect & impossible to ignore. These oversized figures seem to have wandered out of a dream, each with its own personality, mythology, & story to tell.
What fascinated me most was the contrast: Rough, hand-painted surfaces made from humble materials standing proudly among polished marble, luxury fashion, & beautifully curated interiors.
As a designer, those unexpected juxtapositions always make feel excited because beautiful spaces don’t become memorable because everything matches perfectly. They come alive when something unexpected adds texture, personality, curiosity... & mischief.
I found myself slowing down, walking around each sculpture, noticing the brushstrokes, the tiny resin details, how completely different each piece felt from every angle.
That’s one of my favorite things about travel as inspiration rarely arrives when we’re looking for it:
I see something… it taps me on the shoulder & says:
“Come back. Look again.”

Three old salvaged solid wood doors = one funky & unusual custom headboard~

I love finding new life for salvaged materials especially architectural pieces with history. Sometimes the most intriguing design starts with something that was never intended to be furniture!

Would you have hung the doors vertically like this… or horizontally across the wall? I kept them vertical because they still read as doors, preserving their history and character. The different panel styles create a rhythm that makes for an intentional composition.

This explains a LOT! 😂❤️

Here's some justification for your flea-market habit.

LDD | Quiet Corners

Being half British, London has always held a special place in my heart. 🇬🇧

It’s not the famous landmarks that stay with me; it’s a quiet brick corner overflowing with flowers, a historic street sign, or the feeling that every building has a history/story to tell.

As a designer, I’m constantly collecting inspiration from places like this. Character can’t be manufactured ~ it develops over hundreds of years….layer by layer.

LDD Wallpaper Moments | The Cotswolds @ The Painswick Hotel

A little pineapple rebellion in the English countryside.

Bold, playful wallpaper can transform even the smallest room into something memorable. I love the imperfect, hand-printed quality of this pattern & the confidence of using it from wall to wall.

It’s whimsical without becoming novelty, proving that restraint can make even a playful motif feel timeless.

Luxury is character, beautifully lived.
