LDD | Natural Wedding Favors

For my niece Lauren Johnson (now Lauren Kruly) and her wedding weekend, I had the pleasure of choosing these handmade soaps as the wedding favors.
They are exactly the kind of gifts I love most: useful, beautiful, personal, and simply charming without being over the top.
Naturally scented, made in Colombia, with darling labels tucked into little boxes… to me, the smallest objects are often the most endearing.
Tiny luxuries amid love, families joining, celebrating friends and family, nostalgia, emotion, and all the little details that become lifelong memories.

Para el fin de semana de boda de mi sobrina, Lauren Johnson — ahora Lauren Kruly — tuve el placer de escoger estos jabones artesanales como recuerdos para los invitados.

Exactamente el tipo de detalle que más me gusta: útil, hermoso, personal y simplemente encantador, sin ser demasiado.

Aromas naturales, hechos en Colombia, etiquetas adorables y una cajita preciosa… para mí, los objetos más pequeños muchas veces son los más entrañables.

Pequeños lujos en medio del amor, familias que se unen, nostalgia, emoción y esos detalles que terminan formando recuerdos para toda la vida.

LDD | In A Mountain Mood

A-frame homes always feel nostalgic to me equal parts summer camp & slightly feral mountain romance.
I love places that aren’t overly polished... obviously. Collected over time with worn wood, old cabin details, pine trees everywhere, and a porch that practically demands coffee in the morning and adult beverages at night. This little place has that kind of warmth you feel immediately when you walk in.
Also:
Any house with a moose skull over the front windows is fully committing to the bit, and I respect that immensely.



LDD | En modo montaña

Las casas tipo A-frame siempre me producen una nostalgia muy particular: partes iguales de campamento de verano, refugio de montaña y romance ligeramente salvaje.
Me encantan los lugares que no están demasiado pulidos… obviamente. Espacios armados con el tiempo, con madera gastada, detalles antiguos de cabaña, pinos por todas partes y un porche que prácticamente exige café por la mañana y una copa al caer la tarde. Este pequeño lugar tiene esa calidez que se siente apenas uno entra.
Además:
Cualquier casa con un cráneo de alce sobre las ventanas frontales ya está completamente comprometida con la estética, y eso lo respeto muchísimo.

LDD | Little Big Things

Hammered metal, burl wood, branches, tiny sculptural details…
People who know me know that I am a complete sucker for tiny, miniature objects that feel collected rather than overly designed. The pieces you overlook until you really look, you know?
This tiny Michael Aram matchbox holder with his signature botanical/pomegranate motif is one of those small functional tabletop sculptures that’s simply delightful.
My design philosophy occasionally overlaps with that of a very elegant - or frankly inelegant - raccoon.




LDD | Pequeñas Grande Cosas

Metal martillado, madera burl, ramas, pequeños detalles escultóricos…
Quienes me conocen saben que soy una completa fanática de los objetos diminutos y miniaturas que se sienten coleccionados más que excesivamente diseñados. Esas piezas que uno pasa por alto hasta que realmente las mira, ¿saben?
Este pequeño portafósforos de Michael Aram con su característico motivo botánico/de granada es una de esas pequeñas esculturas funcionales de mesa que simplemente encantan.
Mi filosofía de diseño ocasionalmente coincide con la de un mapache muy elegante - o francamente poco elegante.

LDD | Polka Dot Apocalypse

Strong 1960’s-70’s energy. Oversized dots, sculptural wood lines, and the kind of chairs that feel like they belonged in a conversation pit with ci******es, espresso, dramatic lighting, and very interesting people.

Honestly, I’ll always love pieces that feel slightly unhinged… much like the people I surround myself with~ in the best possible way. 🤎

Muy fuerte energía de los años 60/70. Lunares oversized, líneas escultóricas de madera, y el tipo de sillas que parecen pertenecer a un conversation pit con ci*******os, espresso, iluminación dramática y gente muy interesante.

Honestamente, siempre voy a amar las piezas que se sienten un poquito desequilibradas… muy parecido a la gente de la que me rodeo~ de la mejor manera posible!

LDD | Antique Little Toy Truck 🚚

I’m delighted by this old hand-painted tin dump truck I found in NYC in 1997 in the garbage!
These little utilitarian toys weren’t decor back then (still maybe not now 😂…but to me they scream it) as they were meant to be played with hard.
I love pieces like this because they still carry a memory of a child playing with it from the 1920’s-1930’s.
Accidental compositions like this are most of what LDD is all about.

Estoy fascinada con este viejo camioncito volquete de lata pintado a mano que encontré en Nueva York en 1997… ¡en la basura! 😂
Estos jugueticos utilitarios no eran decoración en esa época (y bueno… capaz todavía tampoco 😂… pero para mí gritan diseño y carácter). Eran hechos para jugar duro, para terminar rayados, golpeados y queridos de verdad.
Me encantan piezas así porque todavía cargan la memoria de algún niño jugando con ellas en los años 20s o 30s.
Composiciones accidentales como esta son gran parte de lo que representa LDD para mí. 🤍

LDD | Pike Place Market Finds 🐖

I ended up bringing home both pieces from MODHome Ceramics because I COULD~ 🤣 I adore hand-carved texture, crackled glaze, and soft, imperfect edges.
One butter dish, one little catchall tray... both handmade by ceramic artist Nicole Pepper of MODHome Ceramics in West Seattle. l've always been drawn to objects that are obviously made by the human hand & useful.

Markets, flowers, spices, butter dishes, old textures, people-watching, beautiful light…

Honestly, half my life is just romantically wandering around noticing objects. 😂🤍

Mercados, flores, especias, mantequilleras, texturas antiguas, observar a la gente, luz bonita…

La verdad, la mitad de mi vida consiste en caminar románticamente por ahí fijándome en objetos. 😂🤍
