Upon special request, I will help with kitchen remodels. And I must admit the process and the excitement of the finished product gives me a lot of pride and satisfaction. This kitchen is in a 1936 era house. So we had to maintain a bit of a classic Florida cottage yet update and modernize it for a young family. Crisp blue and white was the key to offsetting the heart pine floors. The tile backsplash is a new product imported from Italy for Daltile. I do believe it stole the show. The town we’re in, San Giovanni Val d’ Arno, has an annual “MyStufato” (beef stew) celebration. They’re very proud of their stew. It has wine in it of course!! A weekend long event with live music, talented crafters, awesome food and €3 glasses of local wine. We went both days and nights. 🍷🍷 Our favorite part was listening to the rock band. There’s something very cool about American rock sung in Italian. Led Zeppelin was classic.

I never tire of Florence! I believe this is my ninth visit. This day we focused on the Pitti Palace and the adjoining Boboli gardens. The “backyard “ encompasses 111 acres and half of it is uphill. Quite a long stroll !! The scale of the palace is enormous and has priceless art on the level of the Uffizi museum. I discovered several Raphael’s that I have never seen before. He’s my favorite 😍

UPDATE!! The Cinghaile is dead! They found it today back in the vineyard. Angelino was a good shot after all!

What a day!!!! Morning mushroom hunt in the woods. Our friends, Fabio and Angelino Semboloni, are the experts. We just had to make sure we didn’t break a leg hiking up and down the ravines. Then they cooked the mushrooms for dinner. Some sautéed over pasta, others fried with pork cutlets. THEN at 10:30 pm the men went into the vineyard (in a small car) and attempted to shoot a wild boar (Cinghaile) who had been ravaging the grapes. 🍇 The shotgun blast missed but Fred’s ears will be ringing for days!!

How to make a great marinara sauce:
1. You fly to Italy. ✈️ 🇮🇹
2. Go to your friend’s garden and pick an assortment of tomatoes. ( takea all you wanta)
3. Go to your friend’s vineyard and buy his organic extra virgin olive oil.
4. Make sure you use plenty of fresh garlic and basil, and a bit of tomato paste.
5. It doesn’t matter what pasta you choose, it’s ALL good…
6. Easy.
7. Cost per portion: $5000–. But well worth it !!!

What an honor it was to design every aspect of this newly constructed condo. Flooring, tile, light fixtures, mirrors, cabinets, countertops, paddle fans, furniture, drapes and paint. The homeowners were previous customers who entrusted me with their new project. The results were a combination of their taste and my ability to pull together every detail. Many of my favorite vendors are highlighted here. Now on the market for $1.8 million. 🤩🤩.

Getting creative with special wallpaper applications to highlight an area or update an architectural feature. The first photo is metallic cork on the face of a bar wall that compliments the glass backsplash. The second is blue grasscloth in 90’s era niches. A new light fixture also helped this refresh!!
